10 Iconic Leftist Protests Gone Hellishly Wrong

LEFTIST PROTEST #2:  WOODSTOCK

Although not legitimately a protest to start with, its follow-up Woodstock festival in 1999 was.  The original 1969 Woodstock concert was slotted to be a paid concert with many of the talents being far and away an array of talent that would not be seen on the same stage ever again.  Even the Horde Tours of the ‘9os paled in comparison to the original Woodstock event.  As the tickets ran out and many people arriving were told that the concert was sold out, there came a point where the organizers could no longer say no to the thousands that were storming the small upstate New York farming village.  At one point, the floodgates were thrown open to all comers and the rest is history.

In the days of August 15, 16, and 17, during which it rained nearly non-stop, performers like the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix and even Sha Na Na sang from the stage while constant drug overdoses were attended to in the many makeshift and unsanitary medical tents set up on the grounds.  There were over 80 drug-related arrests and a very dangerous level of biting flies because of all the urine and feces from lack of toilets.

In 1999, the 30th Anniversary of Woodstock took place as well, but was riddled with multiple cases of drug-induced sexual assault, ATM lootings, vandalism, and fires.  A violent mosh pit was the culprit for more than 65 serious and minor injuries.
