The Administration now proposes new regulations on political groups that will restrict those groups’ participation in elections!
If these new regulations are implemented it would potentially block many groups from participating meaningfully in political activism as protected under the constitution. These restrictions could also discourage donors from contributing if the effect of the groups is limited.
The Obama administration Tuesday proposed a crackdown on the widespread use of tax-exempt organizations for political campaigning, seeking to reduce the influential role that the secretive groups have played in recent elections.
The new “guidance” issued Tuesday by the Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service would curtail a broad array of these tax-exempt entities’ activities, including campaign advertising, voter registration, get-out-the-vote efforts, and distribution of voter guides and campaign materials.
Is this a necessary reform to the political system or just Obama’s way of trying to restrict conservative activists.

There should be a LOT more commentary based upon Barack Obama’s autobiography “Dreams From My Father”. It is interesting in what is missing, both in his story-telling and the fact that the book lacks an index–making it very difficult to quickly find a passage in a book about a particular subject, place or person. It would be most interesting to know who made the decision to NOT have an index–was it the author or the editor or the publisher? Inquiring minds want to know.
