CNN Caught Funneling Questions at Obamacare Debate?

Someone in a debate should expect to be asked difficult questions. Even some hostility from his or her opponents is normal and is nothing to complain about. What is not acceptable is for one of the participants in the debate to get a list of questions that will be asked in advance of the debate. This is called cheating, and it turns the debate into a farce. This is what we have with CNN.

One instance that calls the integrity of CNN into question occurred during the Obamacare debate on October 31 between Senators Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders.

Eagle-eyed viewers of the CNN Obamacare debate between Sens. Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders caught a woman reading a printed question on a piece of paper that plainly featured the Gmail logo and “Your question” as the subject line.

The questioner, Carol Hardaway, could be seen reading her question to Senator Cruz in which she indicated how much she had benefited from Obamacare. It would appear that someone gave her that question in advance.

CNN contributor and interim DNC chair Donna Brazile got caught funneling questions to Hillary Clinton in advance of a debate as well. The permanently ethically-challenged Clinton no doubt jumped at the opportunity to gain an unfair advantage over her opponent. According to the Observer,

On October 31, DNC Interim Chair Donna Brazile was once again implicated in the WikiLeaks emails, shown to have broken the neutrality she was supposed to uphold as a DNC vice chair. In the most recent emails, Brazile forwards more debate questions to the Clinton campaign and confirms she received them from journalist and pundit Roland Martin. “I’ll send a few more. Though some questions Roland submitted,” she wrote in one email.

“One of the questions directed to HRC tomorrow is from a woman with a rash.” Brazile wrote in a separate email also released on October 31. “Her family has lead poison and she will ask what, if anything, will Hillary do as president to help the ppl of Flint.”

Rather sad, it’s it? What is especially annoying is when conservatives are excoriated as whiners and complainers when pointing out obvious and egregious violations of ethics and fairness such as the ones just identified here.

It is not petty complaining to demand a fair and level playing field for a debate. In fact, a reputable organization would insist on that regardless of any personal preferences the debate’s organizers might have. In other words, an institute like CNN that would like us to believe is a reliable source of news, must put the integrity of the debate process above the political leanings of its staff.

That it does not, means it hosts “fake debates,” and thus has earned the moniker, “fake news.”
