Michael Korte and wife Laura Whitney from Glendora, CA face $500 in fines and even criminal action if they don’t turn their brown lawn green again, which died because they were trying to comply with California water regulations.
Don’t you just love the government’s ability to coordinate their activities?
On Tuesday — when the couple received the letter — state regulators authorized fines up to $500 for overwatering lawns.‘Despite the water conservation efforts, we wish to remind you that limited watering is still required to keep landscaping looking healthy and green,’ the letter stated.
It included pictures of the dead lawn with a red line through it, a weedy line similarly crossed out, and finally an uncrossed green lawn with a sprinkler.
‘It is telling me I’d better get my lawn green and I have 60 days to do it,’ Laura said.Ironically, on the same day the couple received the letter the State Water Resources Control Board gave local agencies power to fine for overwatering lawns to help reduce water consumption as the state is in the third year of record low rainfall.
Should the couple wish to improve their lawn they’ll likely have to water it every day.
‘It seems like you’ll be fined if you overwater but we will be fined no matter what,’ Laura said.
Try a moss yard, works for me.
You can’t fight dumb politicians, all brain dead zombies.
Go get some spray paint
Government,,,,!!!!!!!! yes youkiss our asses. ,leave these people alone. and tend to the real isues..
Hey, did they specify green? Get a couple of cans of spray paint. That way nobody can grouse anymore! I live in CA, too. Sounds like you are living in a HOA. Right? Same here. Give these idiots a bit of power and they will take your home.
that is crazy they want green grass and yet they expect you to cut down on water usage i would fight it in court it is ridiculous to expect a person to have a green lawn with restricted use of water at the same time then if you try to put a rain barrel to use for emergencies like water shortage they still get mad cause they think its stealing water as if the rain was sent down for 1 specific person or town
in california homeowners were threatened with a fine if they didn’t clear a defensible area around their home by cutting the brush back, and the epa threatened to fine them if they cut the endangered plants back,,,,,,,,,
PROGRESSIVES PEOPLE PROGRESSIVES INSANITY
My advice…..Get out of your country? You guys are outta whack.
Bet they want out of California.
