Amber Alert system suffers from gov’t shut-down?

The Amber Alert website was taken offline sometime on Sunday and replaced with a notice blaming a lack of federal funding from the Office of Justice Programs.

The AMBER Alert program is a voluntary partnership between law-enforcement and broadcasters that issues urgent bulletins following cases of child abductions.

Somehow, the money was there to keep Michelle Obama’s national “Let’s Move” campaign website live though.

After a public outcry, the Amber Alert site was restored Monday morning. Was this just another in a series of stunts by the administration to pressure the Republicans?
