The world’s biggest banks have all rushed into an emergency meeting last week, and the urgency by which they were called has many worried.
The meetings are to take place in Washington D.C., and even Barack Obama has been called in to meet and discuss the apparent emergency that’s about to be unleashed on the world’s economies with the Federal Reserve.
While the meetings are likely to be behind closed doors, that hasn’t stopped watchful media organizations from figuring out what this emergency is all about.
Is the world economy on the brink of total collapse? Is big oil about to take a major fall? Whatever it is, its going to be major, judging by how quickly these meetings were called.

Shanar Durn — I tell them good luck on the job hunt. It happens constantly, in good times and bad. Qualified people can end up on the sidelines even in a strong market for plenty of reasons — an oversupply of labor, market weakness in their particular sector, etc., lack of need for a specialized skill. I know IT people who were masters of their field programming AS400 systems, but got laid off because that system is no longer popular — without updating those skills, it will be very tough for those people to find jobs even in a hot job market.
The bottom line is that the demographic shift going on right now is a generational change that makes the comparison between now and then very difficult. And without considering that change, any theories derived from those statistics will have a high risk of failure
