Nobody in their right mind would want a nuclear war anywhere, including on the Korean peninsula. We’ve already got a war going on there between the North and South for over 60 years. The only veil of peace has been a cease-fire that has more or less held for all but the first few years of the war. There is no peace treaty. The nations are technically still at war.
The world over have turned a blind eye, or simply chose to ignore sparking the political powder keg that resides in the North, but Trump and his Secretary of State Rex Tillerson are now in the game and seem willing to fight fire with fire.
The unstable and bellicose leader of North Korea makes no effort to hide his nation’s quest for nuclear weapons. Especially ones he can deliver anywhere in the world.
This has the potential to develop into an incredibly nasty situation.
Unfortunately, things are heating up as discussed on page two.
Slap some poison on supreme leaders face
Bill Schiltz Yes, South Korea would be nuked before one of our missiles would reach Pyongyang. It would also involve our Marines, including my grandson, stationed in Okinawa.
I would hate to see all our troops in South Korea and in Okinawa nuked by N. Korea, which is what would happen. My older grandson is in Okinawa.
What you going to do just let him nuke us which he will!
We’d smash um, end of story!
GLASS
Only 5,000 troops on the Korean Peninsula. And only about another 5,000 in Japan. Trust me I was in 2nd infantry in the early 90s and we went on alert and was told to hold on to as much ground as we could, because it would be 18 hours before the 82nd could be their.
Need to tread lightly. Yep figure we could win but at what cost? Would China back North Korea? Better think long and hard.
Gail Dyess , Okinawa is in Japan, not South Korea.
Ken,, my premise was based on US going in. Might have been better if I mentioned that 🙂 I assume at least a little preparation including build-up and a fairly steady stream of the good guys.
