Walmart has been installing facial recognition cameras at eye level in the entrances of their new store fronts for some time now. These cameras not only have the ability to cross reference you with social media networks to put a name with the face, but utilzes software that has the ability to ascertain a great many things about the environment. How much exactly is unknown, but in the video on the next page you can see that it not only tracks faces, but can categorize objects and motion.

the old fical recognization camerias in the doors are failing and a new better version. The NSA gets the data and the Store gets Tax Beraks. Just the honest system at work why worrie about it. With the new ones facial hair and sun glases no longer work. Improvements.
Well, you are on private property. Therefore you have no reasonable expectation of privacy.
Really? So you think Walmart is in cahoots with the NSA to put you in a FEMA camp? That wont be good for their bottom line when all their shoppers are in camps. Take off the tin foil hat, you sound silly.
As many people steal from the stores I don’t blame them for trying to have technology to ID the idiots.
WalMart is getting big enough to be a country. Starting to act like one!
hahaha.. what a lie. Go to any news site where they post pictures of people who commit crimes and they are asking for the public’s help to identify them because they don’t know who they are…. everyone says how horrible the pictures are and how you can’t recognize ANYTHING much less anyone but they this article comes out.. okay. It’s just a cover for the camera.
If you don’t like it, shop elsewhere.
Walmart isn’t as “cutting edge” as you have been led to believe. Walmart can’t even keep their shelves stocked with most commonly used staple items.
walmart’s door sensors have cameras in them, they see every single person going in and out. forwards and back. it’s called stanvision, manufactured by stanley for walmart.
Those cameras are nothing new. Auto tracking has been around for years and even cell phones can auto adjust the settings to clean up an image. As far as the facial recognition it requires a dedicated data base to use you can’t just tap into Facebook or the dmv and run a face the person would be out the door by the time you had a match, far more likely they will start photoing shoplifters and banned individuals to make a database for each area to alert loss prevention when those people enter a store if they even use that function at all same as casinos have done for years.
