When you enter your local Walmart, keep an eye out for the visible part of the latest technology the retail chain has been installing near their doors and throughout the store.
Paging: George Orwell. Mr. Orwell, you there?
High-tech facial recognition cameras are installed eye level near the entry-ways of their new store fronts, but it’s the software behind these anonymous plastic half-globes that is raising concerns (see the video on the following page). Understand, that it isn’t about having anything to hide, these cameras set new a precedent for both personal and business use. These cameras are able to cross-reference your image with online social media networks to match a name with the face, they can learn a great deal more and may be able to track lot of data points. How much the system can record and track is unknown, but in the video on the next page you can see that it not only tracks faces, but can categorize objects and motion:
I notice how you left out fascism
Retina scan like at the airport
I took the onstar fuse out and now the truck won’t start. Good thing I also have a 1977.
Go on Google Plus it will tell you what day and time and location your phone was at sense you bought it.
This is way more pervasive than you realize…don’t like them, don’t step foot into a casino either
Our rural walmart has had them for about 10 years, we have small ones now, used to have the big ones.
My rural walmart has had them for almost 10 years, they are even smaller now, they are smaller than a bottle cap now
The book was called 1984
They do facial recognition software.. if you’ve ever been caught or suspected of stealing in their store your face is saved into a database so when you come in any Walmart anywhere the store security is notified.
Nice job with the scary narrator voice. LM a O, I install security cameras and security systems and this technology has been around for a while Bosch has just applied it to these cameras. But it is not actually in the camera itself the quality of the camera allows the software in the actual system to do that. But he is wrong about them not needing power, they do need power it just depends on the actual connection. The ethernet is nothing but the Internet. Have you ever tag someone on Facebook in a picture, that is basically the same technology because a yellow square pops up around the persons face. That is face recognition. The idol object’s part of the software is nothing but advanced motion detection. It takes an average of what the scenery looks like then anytime something moves in that picture it tracks it across the frame if it stops and then does not move for a period of time it will set off an alarm to let you know that something has appeared in that picture and has not moved. It is just advancements in loss prevention, in other words it is to capture thieves on camera so that they can give them the best quality image of the thief to the police. If some wack ado were to go into Walmart and shoot up the place, the federal government could request the footage from Walmart. Seriously though the federal government has better things to do than to try to conspire with Walmart to look at people and then get their facial images then track them down on the outside chance that there might be something suspicious on their Facebook page. That’s The conspiracy in this article.
