When you enter your local Walmart, keep an eye out for the visible part of the latest technology the retail chain has been installing near their doors and throughout the store.
Paging: George Orwell. Mr. Orwell, you there?
High-tech facial recognition cameras are installed eye level near the entry-ways of their new store fronts, but it’s the software behind these anonymous plastic half-globes that is raising concerns (see the video on the following page). Understand, that it isn’t about having anything to hide, these cameras set new a precedent for both personal and business use. These cameras are able to cross-reference your image with online social media networks to match a name with the face, they can learn a great deal more and may be able to track lot of data points. How much the system can record and track is unknown, but in the video on the next page you can see that it not only tracks faces, but can categorize objects and motion:

Walmart has turned many of their stores into fema camps..ive stood in front of many..some of them are sitting there empty..with one HUGE HOLE GOING DEEP UNDERGROUND..walmart is not our friend…
Ya know…department stores everywhere have hidden cameras. There are cameras everywhere now-traffic lights, walkways, malls, banks, ATMs and more. So these have facial recognition? SO WHAT! As a law abiding citizen, I am not afraid.
Oh PULEEZ! Kroger, Safeway, Macys, Sears, Penneys…all have them. Maybe not as high tech-but give them time.
We counted 18 cameras on the front of Walmart yesterday. Seemed like overkill.
They are tracking our every move, we now have smartphones, that we carry everywhere. This is their tracking device on everyone that has one. I know that I’m just the little man with a boring life but I’m An AMERICAN and have a right not to be tracked or spied on with out a warrant. Your newer cars can be tracked, the computer in them, where, how fast, how much gas your using, ext.
Whose eye level I’m 6′ 2″ and Vickie is 5′ 1″?
If you have a cell phone, you are tracked. Use the internet as you do here, you are tracked. Any type of tv service, you are tracked. There are many more people/businesses, etc, that track you. So if you believe they are the only ones, you are living a lie.
The further advancement of big brother watching. I don’t like it. Why does Walmart want to be bothered with it?? Cause for concern I think.
I’m thinking they are using it to cull their frequent thief list and use facial recognition to help alert security when they ID one. That said who knows for sure.
