Socialism always starts as a “people’s movement,” with mindless and ignorant people being directed by elitist con men in the background, telling the foolish that by bringing down the “rich,” everyone will share in the abundance that socialism will bring. It is always a lie, and invariably almost all the people end up in poverty, with the exception of the top socialist leaders who live like kings. Fidel Castro is certainly one who has lived that life, and his protege, Hugo Chavez destroyed the Venezuelan economy pursuing the same socialist policies.
When the economy comes crashing down, it is necessary for the leadership to blame an outside source, and when Chavez was alive, he continually named the United States for all of the woes the country was suffering from. In fact, the oil rich country provides 9 percent of the U.S. gross oil imports, which must be a considerable sum of export income to the nation of 30 million people. As such, the U.S. provided a huge portion of the countries income, but Chavez resented that as well.
Venezuela has expropriated foreign and domestic businesses, which means that the people have little invested in the country and are becoming very unhappy with the leadership as it nosedives to complete economic ruin.

You live in a false world where you have to point a finger at democrats and ignore the facts. There is blame to place at politicians from both sides of the isle. What do they have in common? They have to campaign with hundreds of millions to get elected. Rather than be politicians for the people, they work for large industries. Lobbyists are allowed to buy favoritism in our government and help to get laws written in their favor. It happens under democratic and republican presidents and democratic house and senate. Capitalism has control of our government. The regulation we need to stop things like this from happening comes down to the people vs the corporations and you and I can’t afford a lobbyist. Tax breaks for the wealthy, predatory lending, fighting two wars, gas spiking to $5/gallon, repealing glass steagal, and trade deals all lead to the crash. The information is out there. When you rely on Fox News or CNN, you’re only going to get half of the story. Good luck and good day to you.
Ideological subversion in action.

Clifford Brown Hahaha. I’m not sure what’s worse. You thinking the reason Cuba hasn’t prospered is because of socialism, or you thinking.
Actually capitalism is what created our golden years of economy. Socialism and corporationism are what is destroying us now.
You don’t suppose they might be in favor of a US invasion do you?
Exactly, this needs to be stressed.
Not worth the argument
Thomas Brennan, they are not the same, they are steps on the same stairway. Democratic socialism until the masses realize the money went away to those angels of society they put in control of their lives. Then on to a more controlled form of statism, and then on again. Communism, Fascism, pick your poison. You are allowing a central party to control your life. You can have that c**p. This is a free country, the Constitution. Is the law in which individuals are granted certain freedoms. That government can’t take away. And yes, there are risks with that. Suck it up lollipop.
