The Utah Senate asked Congress to repeal the 17th Amendment, which was ratified under the Progressive’s of 1913. Utah has boldly challenged a system that was never the intent of the Founding Fathers and suggests that the 17th Amendment has resulted in Senators being bound to special interest groups, that donate enormous sums of money for the Senator’s re-election, and not representing the needs of the people of Utah.
The bill’s sponsor, Sen. Al Jackson of Utah, believes that Senators need to “come home every weekend and take direction from their state legislative (sic) body and from the House and the Governor on how they should vote in the upcoming week.”
Passing with 20-6 SJR2 was sent to the House. It demands that Congress repeal the 17th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Richard Finneran NO.
Trumps going to kick the$#%&!@*out of people trying to change the USA
SO, he wants State Legislatures to appoint US Senators instead of having the PEOPLE vote for them?
Yes yes please http://rodericke.com/edge-anarchy-iargalon
Nothing in the history of the United States has done more to concentrate power and corruption into Washington D.C. than the 17th.amendment. This is not what the founding fathers envisioned. It has only served to create senators who serve for life and are nearly impossible to vote out of office. These senators become more powerful and more indebted to lobbyist as time goes by.
The state senators we have here in Arkansas,I wouldn’t trust with electing MY senator. Leave it to the people.
That would chap their hides
I vote to repeal the 16th..
No it won’t the senate was to be the voice of the state not the people they were there to keep the federal government from making laws detrimental to the states and if the senators did not do the states bidding they were fired and replaced same day
Repeal it but they also need to uncap the House and get back to a constitutional ratio of 1:30,000 people.
