The Utah Senate asked Congress to repeal the 17th Amendment, which was ratified under the Progressive’s of 1913. Utah has boldly challenged a system that was never the intent of the Founding Fathers and suggests that the 17th Amendment has resulted in Senators being bound to special interest groups, that donate enormous sums of money for the Senator’s re-election, and not representing the needs of the people of Utah.
The bill’s sponsor, Sen. Al Jackson of Utah, believes that Senators need to “come home every weekend and take direction from their state legislative (sic) body and from the House and the Governor on how they should vote in the upcoming week.”
Passing with 20-6 SJR2 was sent to the House. It demands that Congress repeal the 17th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
Read a history of the 17th Amendment and why Utah has made such a bold call to action on the following page.
Foriegn Enemies Are At Work here !!!
Fred McCall. If they violate the original constitution and the bill of rights then they are unconstitutional.
F**k the next page, if you cant put it on one fucking page I dont want to read it click bait.
no we will never tamper with the constitution period and can not make laws that go against it like the fuckers infringing felons rights to own weapons and fully automatic 100 round clip weapons tasers pepper spray billy club gas mask and use of k9 on them we are allowed to have well regulated militia but how can we when our government wants us to have bow and arrows against the ar15s and tanks missles and grenade launchers
Mike George: Wanting to change the Constitution is not showing disdain for it, if someone is using constitutional processes to do so.
I’m for it. The House was supposed to represent the people and the senate the states as originally designed in the Constitution. Senators were appointed by the state legislatures. It was a good system and we should return to it.
Something from Truthandaction.org that has a source. That’s the interesting part.
Senators picked by special interest groups or senators picked by legislators that are themselves picked by special interest groups.
What’s the difference?
Like how supreme Court nominates are picked, depends on whom is put in the white house.
Repealing a Federal Constitutional amendment is a massive legislative battle that will probably never get far.
Mike George zero times has legislation been put forward to change the constitution. Tell me, idiot, what national election was there a vote to change the constitution, when was it proposed to the states to ratify, who brought it forward, and which lawmakers sponsored it. You ran your filthy sewer making the claim, now back it up. Thing is, you can’t. But it sounds good to the ignorant, like Gruber and others have proudly stated they know they have in democrat voters, and, there you are, repeating the tripe. So, enthrall us with your acumen, what was the proposed amendment to the constitution proposed by a Republican in the past decade. Make more of a fool out of yourself.
I kind of like MY being able to vote for a Senator and not the likes of an Alan Morrison, Bob Heaton, or Jon Ford. If they were to vote in my place, then basically, I would have no more voice in the election process because my vote would never be cast. Bad idea, let’s leave it the way it is.
This is why every state should call for a convention of the states. WE THE PEOPLE have control.
