The Utah Senate asked Congress to repeal the 17th Amendment, which was ratified under the Progressive’s of 1913. Utah has boldly challenged a system that was never the intent of the Founding Fathers and suggests that the 17th Amendment has resulted in Senators being bound to special interest groups, that donate enormous sums of money for the Senator’s re-election, and not representing the needs of the people of Utah.
The bill’s sponsor, Sen. Al Jackson of Utah, believes that Senators need to “come home every weekend and take direction from their state legislative (sic) body and from the House and the Governor on how they should vote in the upcoming week.”
Passing with 20-6 SJR2 was sent to the House. It demands that Congress repeal the 17th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
Read a history of the 17th Amendment and why Utah has made such a bold call to action on the following page.
why they already infringe upon both the first and second amendments.
Everyone of these Assholes who are trying to repeal bits and pieces of the Constitution need to be voted out and replaced IMMEDIATELY❗️
Actually not a bad thing think about it special interests put so much money on their guy so he gets the air time and the ground game in states takes a lot of $$$$ now a candidate who is truly trying to work for the people have no shot cause they got no money much more of a fair fight and your getting out the lobbyist out of elections. Kinda what we want
No , do not mess with the amendments ,leave it as it is !! The senators should be elected by the people !! And not by the legislators because there is to much chance of having a conflict of interest , if you know what I mean !!!
They’d replace the Constitution with Sharia Law…….
Terri you’re correct but America can’t let them establish Sharia. It would mean war.
They’ve repealed the 18th amendment
Should never have made that amendment to begin with. Taking the Senate out of the hands of the States began the rapid destruction of state sovereignty.
If they repealed anything, it was done illegally. I’m just curious to know how much c**p Americans are going to take before they snap. In half.
Homes legislatures are messes too. People don’t think about issues or care enough to vote anymore. A fraction of people decide everything for the rest and the rest blindly follow.
