Up until recently, elimination of the national debt seemed to be priority number one for many within the Republican Party. It was for this reason that the Tea Party was formed, and what caused many otherwise popular establishment Republicans to lose their congressional seats in heated primary battles against political newcomers.
This year, surrounding the Trump-led mayhem encompassing the GOP primary, the talk about our national debt seemed to all but disappear from the forefront. Instead, we’ve been inundated with insults about hand size, spray tans, and the attractiveness of candidate’s wives.
After a particularly nasty week leading up to the Wisconsin primary, Donald Trump looks as if he’s trying to get back to the issues, and he’s harkening back to the recently overlooked, but very important debt crisis that still faces the United States.
