Unfortunately, it seems the left-wing hysteria over the Confederate flag has managed to infiltrate the ranks of our armed forces.
This is apparently the case as 18 year-old Anthony Bauswell learned when he tried to enlist in the Marine Corps. A native of Arkansas, Bauswell wanted nothing more than to serve his country and protect it from those who would do harm to it. This wasn’t enough for the recruiters though, who objected to a certain tattoo the teen had.
Like many Southerners, Bauswell felt proud of his heritage and sought a way to commemorate it. He decided the best way to do that was to get a tattoo of the Confederate flag. Although many Americans recognize it as a harmless symbol of Southern tradition and history, others view it as a racist symbol, so Bauswell added the words “Southern pride” underneath the flag to differentiate it from racist interpretations.
The words, however, didn’t convince the recruiters looking over him, with one of them saying “DQ, just automatically, DQ,” immediately upon seeing the tattoo according to Bauswell.

Depends on where they are located…. Ever wonder why they don’t tell where his tat is???? Or why they have a small picture of it???? If it show’s while in uniform then it against Marine policy!!!!

I’m not sure if I buy this. When I was at MEPS, right before we shipped to basic, they looked the recruits over and if they had tattoos that didn’t meet regs, they just inked black squares over them. I know the Navy aldo does that, and I’m pretty sure the Marine Corps would as well. There’s probably more to why he wasn’t allowed to enlisted…
first thing on my mind when I read this, “I bet there’s more to it”. Story says, “teen claims” So …
It may be different now; I was at MEPS in April 2001. I’m just saying that, at that time, tattoos wouldn’t prevent enlistment as long as the guy was willing to get a cover-up. And the military has (supposedly) relaxed their guidelines on tattoos…
Hahaha it freaking looks like him.
I went into the marines in 2005 without any tattoos. They don’t like you getting sleeves when I was in, but one tattoo isn’t going to disqualify you unless it’s on your forehead lol. However being in the political pansy world we are in now I can see that happening since the military is turning into a social club.
Tattoos cause global warming.
Shane Tate O yeah and obee boy is the best youve ever seen in the white house too right? LMFAO
