Ever had to deal with a power blackout during the hot summer months? Then you know just how important keeping cool can be.
Over on The Good Survivalist we found a great tip to save you money and keep you cool:
Seems every year people die due to heat. Keeping your home cool in the summer can be very expensive if you use your air conditioner. This air conditioner is very simple to make, and can be made in a few minutes if you are handy.Even if you are not handy you’ll be able to make one of these DIY air conditioners. One of the nice things about this air conditioner is that it will give you up to 6 hours of coolness. This thing works so well you may need to put on a sweatshirt! To make one of these babies you need a few simple tools, a couple of 5 gallon buckets, along with a few other items. Everything is shown in the video.
in the future rooftops will be solar~ heat exchangers, and there will be endless energy available.. collect rainwater & melted snow, supplement w/ windmills etc.. what are we waiting for?
And how am I supposed to power the fan during a BLACK OUT?
just what I was thinking…not gonna work in a power blackout
Amber Danner Johnson lets make onw
Rose Clark
Built one of these for my small one car garage. It didn’t work at all! The air blowing out was only barely colder than ambient temp. No way in the world you’d ever feel a difference
Fart noise…..let the stink set it
John O’Neill unless they arrest you for collecting rainwater.
This does work. But it depends on how you make it. Ice last longer with the correct insulation and the holes have to be in the right place. We made 4 of them just to see wHich way worked best. Next time we have a hurricane without power. I will Certainly Use one. Better than burning up here in Florida.
Get a power converter, a battery charger/mantainer and a battery.
That way you can use your fan during a black out
