Ever had to deal with a power blackout during the hot summer months? Then you know just how important keeping cool can be.
Over on The Good Survivalist we found a great tip to save you money and keep you cool:
Seems every year people die due to heat. Keeping your home cool in the summer can be very expensive if you use your air conditioner. This air conditioner is very simple to make, and can be made in a few minutes if you are handy.Even if you are not handy you’ll be able to make one of these DIY air conditioners. One of the nice things about this air conditioner is that it will give you up to 6 hours of coolness. This thing works so well you may need to put on a sweatshirt! To make one of these babies you need a few simple tools, a couple of 5 gallon buckets, along with a few other items. Everything is shown in the video.
Don’t forget about the mold if placed anywhere near furniture or carpet…..
LOL as realistic as powering your house with a potato…. physics and common sense say BS. just one simple point that everyone overlooked, the basic point of refrigeration is to remove heat and reject it in a place that makes little or no difference. the ice that is made in your refrigerator rejected its heat in your kitchen, then your refrigerator makes more ice rejecting more heat into your kitchen… the refrigerator in your kitchen does not have the capacity to make enough ice (about 4-5,000# on a 95 degree day) to cool your house. Even if it did have the capacity it would be smarter to just leave the freezer door open so there would be some latent capacity (removal of humidity). unless this device is blowing right in your face it would be totally useless, it would be easier to throw your shirt in the freezer and use the ice to make a drink with….
So you have to build this before a power outage then I’d there is one,you have to find ice somewhere. And keep the extra ice somewhere, keep the extra ice frozen with no electricity, have a battery operated fan and extra. batteries. The power will prob be back on by the time you get all that done. Prob cost more like $50
Saw one yesterday. It wasn’t great
I made one. It sucked
I not bring up this video what happened to it
he made a redneck air conditioner out of 2 buckets, a desk fan and ice.
it’s stupid and you didn’t miss anything important.

Made one and it worked as a car air conditioner. First the price is wrong. The fan alone at Walmart is between 13 and 15 dollars. The bucket around $3, the lid $2, the liner available from Home Depot is $5 but it is sold in 3 packs for $15 and instead of paying $3 each for the PVC Pipes I bought a 10 foot section and cut it down. The 10 foot piece was $7 and will make a lot of pipes. Also if you wish to use the unit in car with car lighter fan you will have to get an adapter to plug it into the wall outlet $4.
Jessica lol show your dad -.-
