Ever had to deal with a power blackout during the hot summer months? Then you know just how important keeping cool can be.
Over on The Good Survivalist we found a great tip to save you money and keep you cool:
Seems every year people die due to heat. Keeping your home cool in the summer can be very expensive if you use your air conditioner. This air conditioner is very simple to make, and can be made in a few minutes if you are handy.Even if you are not handy you’ll be able to make one of these DIY air conditioners. One of the nice things about this air conditioner is that it will give you up to 6 hours of coolness. This thing works so well you may need to put on a sweatshirt! To make one of these babies you need a few simple tools, a couple of 5 gallon buckets, along with a few other items. Everything is shown in the video.
Dry Ice is best! Notice in many places its difficult to locate!
In any case, this is one reason I collect many computers cooling fans, multiple purpose, low energy required, add pvc pipe and you got Turbo Power! 😀
Solar Panels and rechargeable batteries intended for use in automatic feeders sold in Walmarts Sporting Goods Dept. work great. Solar Panel is like, $19 and batteries around same if buying package of 2. Sportsman have been using home invented stuff like this for quite some time using Styrofoam Ice Chests. You don’t really think we would put up with a woman and kids nagging us about the heat and humidity in tents during the summer nights we catfish do you? LOL No Way!
Wow… last week it was 5 dollars… etc ?
LOL…. Most houses have 2.5 ton capacity ac units. Basically saying that a house uses the amount of cooling to melt 2.5 ton of 32 degree ice in a 24 hr period. I don’t understand how it could be beneficial to take ice out if your freezer and then when it makes more it increases the load on the refrigerator and it works harder so it rejects more heat into the living space. This idea would be good for like if you had to work in your shed or something…. Nothing else… This post misleads people

Cold showers are more effective in blackouts than a bucket with holes in it.
