Ever had to deal with a power blackout during the hot summer months? Then you know just how important keeping cool can be.
Over on The Good Survivalist we found a great tip to save you money and keep you cool:
Seems every year people die due to heat. Keeping your home cool in the summer can be very expensive if you use your air conditioner. This air conditioner is very simple to make, and can be made in a few minutes if you are handy.Even if you are not handy you’ll be able to make one of these DIY air conditioners. One of the nice things about this air conditioner is that it will give you up to 6 hours of coolness. This thing works so well you may need to put on a sweatshirt! To make one of these babies you need a few simple tools, a couple of 5 gallon buckets, along with a few other items. Everything is shown in the video.
For the people who didn’t pay attention (and there were several according to the comments) it’s powered by a small solar panel. He said so and showed it. Geez…
They don’t work!!!!!!!!
So when my power is out where do I plug in the fan? People who post $#%&!@* should learn how to read.
This is a homemade swamp cooker. It only works if it’s hot and dry, not hot and humid. It’s adding humidity into the air which cools if it’s dry, but not if it’s humid.
Awesome
I made one and worked just fine for me !

Made it. Doesn’t work.
Soooo, ok I can see how it might be ok in a SMALL room… but a fan still requires POWER, so unless you already have a generator or solar just HOW is this supposed to “deal with a power blackout during the hot summer months”? And if you already HAVE a generator or solar… WHY don’t you just use THAT to run your A/C or fans instead of making this? Just askin’
