Ever had to deal with a power blackout during the hot summer months? Then you know just how important keeping cool can be.
Over on The Good Survivalist we found a great tip to save you money and keep you cool:
Seems every year people die due to heat. Keeping your home cool in the summer can be very expensive if you use your air conditioner. This air conditioner is very simple to make, and can be made in a few minutes if you are handy.Even if you are not handy you’ll be able to make one of these DIY air conditioners. One of the nice things about this air conditioner is that it will give you up to 6 hours of coolness. This thing works so well you may need to put on a sweatshirt! To make one of these babies you need a few simple tools, a couple of 5 gallon buckets, along with a few other items. Everything is shown in the video.
This is really cool!
Correct me if I’m wrong but if you have a power outage you rnt going have a fan. Just saying.
I think towards the end of the video he shows his ac hooked up to a 15 watt solar panel.
Solar fans are not cheap
Use a battery powered fan. Not rocket science people…

Ever think that’s why youtube is free?
the energy needed to make the ice is more heat than this cools add the heat produced by fan and you got a real loser….if feels cool right in front but over all you warming the house…
If people don’t understand how freezing buckets of water will increase their electric bill, why don’t they just leave their freezer door wide open to cool the house instead? Cut out the middle man.
…Not to mention that your fridge is heating your house with the heat removed from the water to make it ice. So if your fridge compressor and the fan for this gadget both ran at 100% efficiency (which they don’t) then your still only breaking even once all the ice has been melted in the bucket
