Democrats and the Left are not big fans of the democratic process because, well, why should people be given a choice to choose when the Lefties just know that they are right? That means there should be no question and no dissent. Besides, theirs is a moral position, so any political difference of opinion should be squelched because their position is for the good of all, and opponents are not just wrong, they are evil. Liberals are also not big on logic, because their argument is, by default, the correct one and does not need to be defended by facts or reality. As a result, they will not engage in a structured debate, but will revert to ad hominim attacks because actual data is just so, um, inconvenient.
This attitude is fully on display with the gun rights discussion going on right now. Gun ownership is up, and gun crime is down. The mass attacks have all been in gun free zones, by perpetrators who passed background checks or could have. The boogeyman of libs on guns is the NRA, but no NRA members have been involved in the attacks cited by the Libs. None of this matters because, well, guns are evil, and must be taken away from responsible citizens because they are evil. U.S. citizens disagree, and have voted to ensure that their 2nd Amendment rights of gun ownership are preserved. That does not matter, because Libs just know they are right, and so they keep trying to conjure up ways to confiscate guns that will take the decision away from elected officials and the citizens themselves. That, we must admit is the, height of arrogance.
