The president of the University of Texas in Austin, Greg Fenves caved in to outcries that two statues represent the South’s racist past. He announced on Thursday that the statue of Jefferson Davis will be moved from the campus’s Main Mall to the school’s Dolph Briscoe Center for American History.
The statue of Woodrow Wilson was also moved to “maintain symmetry on the mall.”

disgraceful
Not racist, history
You can’t wipe out history ,it happened.
MLK stood for freedom. Confederacy stood for oppression.
I don’t see a whole lot of Malcolm X statues. Davis, Lee, etc renounced their American citizenship. Lee led an Army whose purpose was to kill or wound as many American service personnel as possible. They fought to continue the ins$#%&!@*ution of human slavery. Any other country, any other time, they would have been treated much differently for these actions once the war ended. What would have happened to the Founding Fathers had England defeated them?
How stupid we have become when presidents that have been honored for years and years are suddenly deemed racist and removed from the public square. Don’t any of you realize that this is another step into communism?
Sad
the true racists are those that promote this stuff.
So Bill Johnston, you’re gonna sit the and tell me that blacks don’t have the same freedoms that all the rest of us have? And what did these two former presidents have to do with The Confederacy? So why were they taken down?
I agree with you Lupe.
