You could be forgiven for having a difficult time following all the players in the continuing saga that has engulfed Congressional committees, the president, the FBI, the NSA, Russia, the Clintons, former FBI Director Comey, WikiLeaks, the media, and who know how many others. The old baseball adage fits: “You can’t tell the players without a scorecard.”
Continuing the baseball metaphor, part of the problem is that it’s not entirely clear who is on whose team. Or for that matter, it’s not clear how many teams there are.
When one sits down to write a piece about this turmoil, one question that comes to mind is how much do potential readers already know, and how much time should be spent rehearsing information in an attempt to help clarify things rather than to obfuscate — something our politicians do well enough anyway.
So when we begin a piece with the assertion that Special Counsel Mueller might be accused of doing the very thing former FBI Director Comey accused President Trump of doing, do your eyes just glaze over, or is this all crystal clear to you?
We’ll try to straighten this out and clarify things for you, as well as hopefully explaining why this is important on page two.
Mitzi,
The one thing that most intrigued me about Donald Trump was his credible claim that he was a great deal maker. Deals are made by people with different agenda. You expect obstacles. I thought that maybe, a President Trump could unify Democrats and Republicans behind important initiatives. From what I have seen, it appears that the President has just insulted, belittled, slandered and excluded the Democrats from the process. He did not engage them in discussions, he sought no common ground. He failed as a deal maker and as a leader. Where am I wrong here?
Past Presidents always faced partisan resistance, but the leaders won some from the opposing party to their side. FDR, Truman, LBJ, Reagan, Clinton..
Not Trump.
On another point, great oratory backed up by integrity and decency is powerful. Just the latter two are powerful. I personally think Obama did a fine job and I think history will agree with me.
Screw this guy and his friends sick and tired of seeing it on tv let along FB and so are millions of others
Mr. Mueller has been riding on a high horse for too long. He thinks he’s above the law. And, he’s a Dem. Dems are famous for the statement: “I don’t remember” or ” have no recollection.” The good thing is Mr. Barr’s book, written in 2011, recollects what Mr. Mueller asked Mr. Barr to do. Mr. Mueller set the example. Mr. Mueller should take his own actions to consideration, considering over 70 people died when he asked Mr. Barr to go easy on his investigation.
Dennis-
And yet the Republican Congress saw fit to investigate President Trump.
And Don Jr. confirms everything in one email.
Those are your people doung these things.
The Democratic Party is the Party of obstructionist. They should be ashamed to call themselves American
Truth
The meeting was not illegal….allan dershowitz…harvard lawyer…far more knowledgable than christopher
Fire him!
No, no I don’t.
It is not just the democrats obstructing Trump, it is also the establishment sellouts in the republican party. If those jackass sellouts on both sides of the aisle would put the intrests of America first, rather than their own, we could get past this snipe hunt.
