This past March 7, the National Guard in South Carolina performed door-to-door ‘wellness checks’ in an state-wide drill entitled Operation Vigilant Guard. The stated purpose was to prep for a Category 4 hurricane disaster.
Overall, around 2,000 military personnel and 5,000 persons from the South Carolina emergency management divisions participated.
This certainly harkens back to Hurricane Katrina disaster, where the National Guard and local law enforcement confiscated guns door-to-door.

The national guard is a state agency, this isn’t the big bad government coming after you. If we are at your door trying to help it is because we have been activated by the states governor to come $#%&!@*ist. Look at the mudslide in Washington, guess who was there helping the effected people besides first responders. Oh hey! It was the Washington national guard!
Correct it would be from say UN troops , maybe but [ it], wouldnt be pretty. We are more likely to join forces and fight together if needed
Actually, natural disaster response is one of the biggest reasons the National Guard is activated. No one seems to mind when they stop by in a helicopter to pick flood survivors up off their roofs.
Active duty bases have residential living areas. National guard bases do not. These people are citizens just like you. They are your neighbors and coworkers.
The national guard is made up of citizens. They are your neighbors and coworkers.
Guess what you don’t have to answer the door.
Be sure to post a sign on your door the next time a natural disaster hits and you have no power, no food, and no fresh water telling the “cowards” that you’ll be just fine without their help, and I’m sure they’ll happily p$#%&!@* you by and move on to help the next person suffering.
All national guard members are trained in self aid and buddy care. They have basic triage training and are able to help provide food and clean water where there is none available. There are also medical personnel that ARE nurses and doctors.
Tom, have you taken an oath with the National Guard? Because they do take an oath to defend the cons$#%&!@*ution.
Well, since the National Guard is made up of citizens who live in your neighborhoods and share the same day jobs as you, they’re technically already knocking on their own doors.
