In the wake of President Obama’s call for more gun control, more background checks, and threats that he is not done with trying to take guns away from law abiding citizens, it is clear that the public vociferously disagrees with him. That is easily seen by the large uptick in gun purchases, fueled by the fear of confiscation by the administration, and by the terrorist incidents that people have seen recently both in the U.S. and abroad.
In addition, there are numerous examples of ordinary citizens having guns in their homes for self protection that led to a more preferred outcome when the need arose. Home invasions have been thwarted by well-trained moms or even kids who were able to defend themselves when a call to the police would have been far to late to do anything but mark a crime scene. And that does not begin to count the thousands or tens of thousands of times that simply brandishing a weapon scared the perpetrator away.
It now seems that even police officers are beginning to get the idea that an armed citizenry can be very important in the battle against crime.
More guns, more safety, page 2:
It would be better to just impeach Obama. Vote for Donald Trump
No, guns should be banned. You do not have the right to defend yourself. The government was put in place to protect you. They do an excellent job. We need to disarm the population. Now, before you go ape sh”t. This is sarcasm. Buy more bullets.
The thugs in the administration have created a judicial system, and mentality of cynicism of America that is encouraging to, and in favor of criminals.
How is more background checks going to keep criminals from getting guns who buy them on the streets by the way not at the local gun store and you think if someone is pointing a gun at you calling 911 is going to save your$#%&!@*having a gun to defend yourself is your only chance of staying alive in that situation
Glad there getting on page!!
Hmm! It is getting deeper; better keep your guns close by.
Charles J. Algeri , what world do you live on. Open your eyes before it’s too late. I see people loosing their jobs right and left. It is a shame when people over 50 are even trying to get a job at McDonald’s because there is nothing out there and tell all of those who have lost their jobs in the oilfields that jobs are looking up. Also, all of the small businesses that had to close their doors in the last few years. I know what I’m talking about because I have seen it close to me. I’m thankful that I have a good job but see others that I know struggling.
Yeah because it’s rocket science understanding the purpose and reason for the bills huh Wes? Lol, we get it and understand fully. Unfortunately…they only work on law abiding citizens, who are already following the law. It’s already illegal for felons and the mentally unstable to have firearms, but they have them anyway. Why? Because background checks aren’t strenuous enough? Lol nah they aren’t doing background checks. So how doed making them harder effect anyone but people who already follow laws? There are many ways for criminals to get guns by circumventing the law, and there ALWAYS will be. The only solution to the problem, is to be able to defend oneself against those who choose to break the law. Yet your agenda wants to take that away from us, or limit the manner in which may do it…weird how that is upsetting to those of us who aren’t scared of guns, and have learned to use them responsibly. P.S. I’m a libertarian not a republican. It has nothing to do with party, just basic common sense. #getsome
Here is the problem you people miss or ignore about background checks and obtaining weapons.
In state A, you have effective checks that keeps weapons away from bad people. In State B, you pay the walmart employee the fee and 5 minutes later you have your gun with on sale bullets.
With proper regulations that are nation wide and effective like in other countries, background checks will work and safety at home can actually be achieved
Read the bills and read the executive orders, if there was anything in them, republicans would have had it in the courts. But no, only thing they do is joining the nra in broadcasting fear mongering to drive the fearful into buying more guns
