Liberals subscribe to magical thinking, believing that free college tuition and free health care to illegals will somehow end up a net win for the public. But reality often intrudes on this magical thinking like a big pimple on the end of your nose, and it is painful and unsightly. In this case, the laws of economics are intruding into the magical thinking of liberal politicians in San Francisco (as if there were any other kind there), and it is a growing problem.
San Francisco has declared that the minimum wage in the city, now being replicated in several other fact-challenged cities, will rise to $15 by 2018, and polls there predict happy, better-paid workers who will finally have a “living wage.” They have also insisted that this will not increase inflation and that it will be a boon to the minimum wage worker. That is a lie. And the impact is just now showing up as the first mandated rise from $10.74 to $12.25 is being implemented by certain retailers.
See who is raising prices in San Francisco, page 2:
this is gonna happen more and more because of this $15 hr Minimum wage………… http://www.eater.com/2016/3/17/11254072/carls-jr-robot-restaurant
Thats cali. Where everything is twice the price already.
Lmfao at all of these economists on Facebook! The problem isn’t what the future holds in these markets, the problem and reason for these wage increases is the fact that inflation has outpaced, not just the minimum wage, but all wages in the labor market. All while these corporations are raking in record profits and distributing multi-million dollar bonuses to CEOs. You can’t really be mad at the people forcing a change in the direction it needs to go, based on a problem they inherited. Yes cost will be diverted to the customer as much as possible, but to say customers will stand for it to all fall on their shoulders (by still frequenting these businesses) is foolish. The corporations will adapt to a shrunken profit margin, and be happy to still turn a profit on a large scale in the ever changing economic climate.
Well duh
What always escapes the right is the rich being over paid and not paying their taxes. Always the right who think b******t is okay.
Duh. Have to pay for those wage increases.
Look these corporations bring in billions a year. Inflation in prices but not in wages is the problem period! Families used to survive off of one adult working 40 hrs a week and now two adults working 40 a week doesn’t even cut it. The only loss these people are taking is the share holders aren’t getting more money because of company growth that’s the problem. If you tell me a multi billion dollar company can’t pay its employees more your a fucking idiot
the left think that the CEOs should cut their pay to absorb the cost increases, thats their key driver for all this – of course, its foolish.
Liberals do not understand economics or business. They think just because people get paid more, everything will be great. However, little do they understand that everything is connected. When products get more expensive, the demand will go down. No business means no workers. If we continue to let liberals run this country, in no time America will become a third world country. Vote Trump!!
Businesses are not in business to make a profit. They owe the workers they are here to eat all costs and don’t need to be profitable. We are entitled and we deserve more that what your employer deserve.
