Liberals subscribe to magical thinking, believing that free college tuition and free health care to illegals will somehow end up a net win for the public. But reality often intrudes on this magical thinking like a big pimple on the end of your nose, and it is painful and unsightly. In this case, the laws of economics are intruding into the magical thinking of liberal politicians in San Francisco (as if there were any other kind there), and it is a growing problem.
San Francisco has declared that the minimum wage in the city, now being replicated in several other fact-challenged cities, will rise to $15 by 2018, and polls there predict happy, better-paid workers who will finally have a “living wage.” They have also insisted that this will not increase inflation and that it will be a boon to the minimum wage worker. That is a lie. And the impact is just now showing up as the first mandated rise from $10.74 to $12.25 is being implemented by certain retailers.
See who is raising prices in San Francisco, page 2:
Leave it to truth and action to make$#%&!@*up and do nothing.
Yea..cuz the owner’s will just sit there and go out of business…smh
The CEO is not the owner. If this CEO would have done his job properly there would not have been any big scare.
Julian- often it’s better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt
Wait so you think its a bad idea for a customer to pay up to a dollar more for food isnt worth the finacial stabilty and growth in soending its employees with have?
Its rich when lies and laziness posts about concequences but cant seem to figure out why people in the middke east dont like the US. You think the last 30 years of occupation has something to do with it?
This page is full of limited thinking and sadly the commentors tend to follow suit.
You do understand that you are describing inflation. Increase wages artificially and get the inflation engine started, then soon $15 an hour again is not enough. The pay increase has to be based on merit and productivity.
Chris I am betting money you shop at Walmart instead of local to save a few bucks. It’s the law of supply and demand. I am a smoker. I am willing to pay up to 4 dollars a pack for them but I am unwilling to pay 5. Yes I can afford 5 a pack but that takes money earmarked for vacations, savings, or emergencies. If I am unwilling to pay a dollar more for an addiction I sure as heck will not for a scetchy fast food item. And I know this is hard to imagine but I’m in the majority on this way of thinking.
Also, don’t quite get how the middle east figures into this conversation.
That is simply not true……….McDonalds Big Mac, would rise in price around 23 cents………..Convincing you and your ilk that raising minimum wage is bad for our economy is simply silly….Poor people have more money , they consume more , pumping money into the economy thus growing the economy………Think man, think…peace
Ray Hammond, smacking keys on a computer or phone calling people a fool proves your arrogant and pompous, if you even know what the term means. I believe strongly in capitalism and that it helped immensely build our economic structure, but if you think that minimum wage is anywhere close to a fair wage in this country than you sir need a head check. There are many many corporations that have built an EMPIRE off of folks that are as diligent about how they work as those that go to work as doctors or truckers or any other occupation, and when the pompous$#%&!@*doesn’t get his or her food order correctly and stands at the counter and makes themselves look like an$#%&!@* I guess because they think they are entitled, I tell them right there to jump back there and do that job themselves!
