Someone needs to tell the House Speaker that the basic economic principle of ‘supply and demand’ definitely applies to the workforce in America. Paul Ryan’s 2015 2,009-page omnibus spending bill had 700 pages slipped in regarding H-2B visa expansion for foreign workers. He believes that the supply of workers in the United States is not enough to make up for the demand by employers.
This is a staggering suggestion, that the unemployed workers in the United States, the marginally attached and or discouraged, would not take a seasonal job if it became available.
The supply of able bodied workers should be the first to meet the demand of these businesses, yet Ryan believes low-waged foreign earners are the ones who should take them. He has no evidence to support his claim “that corporations are facing a shortage of labor, which rendered the provision necessary.”

Just popping in as a troll here but, you folks aren’t really keen on how this all works apparently. You want cheap fish harvests, or pay 3 times retail what you’re accustomed to. You want 3 cent buckshot or do you want to pay 90 cents a slug. We’ve been sold out long ago as a consumerist society. Ryan’s just a con man trying to look good as is the rest of our political “establishment”. We cannot make these changes in a few weeks. Go out into your community and find someone that wants to take a risk on a fishing vessel with the hopes of being paid well on the take, or play it safe and work at McDonald’s for a steady paycheck. Trump can boast and claim all he wants about bringing jobs and prosperity back to America but the reality is, our industries and the infrastructure to support them have gone away and to bring that back would cost more than economically viable. Technology is also another huge factor. Humans in the modern era will always be paid less than the cost of a robot to do a said task. It’s the only way to compete. The minute a robot can do a job cheaper than a human, (he-she) will be replaced. It is the only way to stay competitive. We no longer live in the 1800’s. Henry ford wanted to create a car for everyone, he did it through cheap innovation, via assembly lines, and low costs. It worked and has been the industry standard forever. It’s time for us to stop blaming “the government” and BE the government. The POTS (piece of the$#%&!@*, has been a lying scumbag since about the age of 18 and has no clue what he is doing. Please do not expect him or any of these other pieces of$#%&!@*in his party to do anything for you that doesn’t benefit him/them first.
You should be proud of Ryan to speak out. He should cross party lines.
