Even the most delusional anti-Trump Republican seems to agree, the man they love to loathe is going to walk away from the GOP primary with more delegates than anyone in the race.
Any other year, this would seal a victory for the frontrunner. Those beaten would release their delegates to the frontrunner and the party would soldier to the general election as a cohesive, unified organization.
But this isn’t any other year, as Trump has disturbed all sense of normalcy and tradition in his bid to become the president of the United States, and the party isn’t happy.
The Republican Party has long been the party of ‘fall in line,’ and ‘wait your turn,’ and Donald Trump’s refusal to do either has enraged the establishment so fiercely that they’re now poised to do everything in their power to shut him down.
Reince Priebus, the head of the GOP establishment, seems so determined to get Trump off the national ticket that he’s willing to undermine the very democracy upon which his party is based.
See how he insulted Republican voters across the country on the next page:
If you identify as a conservative, you should be hoping for a contested convention (though for the conservative to overtake the front runner and win outright would be better, of course), as it is the best chance for a conservative to win. As you may be aware, some New York liberal has dragged a lot of center left former Democrats abandoned by their party’s shift to the left into the Republican party. While I sympathise with their plight, I don’t want them to drag my party further to the left when it’s already threatening to abandon me in the same way. These folks have managed to get their center left candidate a plurality of delegates at this time, and it seems unlikely that the true conservative will be able to overtake him completely this late in the race (one can always hope). We do think he will be able to deny him a majority, though there’s always a bit of wishful thinking when cheering for your own candidate.
Have you heard that Lincoln didn’t come into his convention as the vote leader? Seward did. Lincoln won on the third ballot.
I haven’t heard that Trump has any conservative plan to bring jobs and capital back to America. He has in the past mentioned a big government method to try to do that, but governments are notoriously bad at solving problems by getting bigger. Ted Cruz does have a conservative plan to brings jobs and capital back to America, it involves making government smaller, which is generally the conservative way of doing things.
The one third they’ll lose is Trump supporters (unless they choose Trump, then they’ll lose the #NeverTrump crowd, maybe 50% or more). Now, if they choose someone unpalatable to the Cruz supporters, they’ll lose us too, we can get your number that way, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. It seems like Cruz has a good chance to be chosen on the second ballot.
I welcome the formation of your new center left party. I will not be joining it, but hope all the RINOs do. Furthermore, I wish you well in taking down the Democrat party. That way, the remains of the Republican party can be conservative, and choose actual conservative candidates to compete against your new party which would be less left wing than the Democrat party.
Yes, and something like 70% of the Republicans have clearly said someone other than Trump. No Democrats have voted for Trump, except by crossover voting, which can be read as choosing the candidate they think will lose against theirs. These Democrats have already been counted as Republicans, even though they’re not really.
We can see that you are already trying to end our party by nominating a candidate who does not share our conservative values. You may succeed, but we (who are also the people) will not give up our party without a fight. It’s difficult to form a new party from scratch. That’s why Trump decided to hijack ours in the first place.
Bette Hutchens , if Cruz is chosen I’am still out. I will vote for Trump as a writer in. I refuse to vote for someone I can not believe in. Never Cruz, Kasich, Hillary or Sanders.
And you dear are obviously a troll.
Trump all the way
The constitution and party rules are being followed. Party rules call for a majority, not a plurality. If there is no majority on the first ballot at the convention, some delegates are going to have to change their votes, and you don’t get to be the one to tell them how to do so.
