We have all heard the stories about Senator John McCain’s exemplary military service. We have all been treated to the endless references to his wounds from the war that were inflicted through his agonizing years of torture at the hands of the North Vietnamese.
We are all, by now, through one term as a US Representative, five terms as a US Senator (and counting), and three presidential primary runs where he was expected in the early going in 1999 to be able to defeat Al Gore, familiar with his excellence in service to America. Of course, in that race, he ultimately bowed to the superiority of the Bush family when George W. came on the scene to wrap up the primary race in a big way and ultimately embarrass the senator with a win of 47 states.
McCain tried again in 2004 to a worse jumping-off point, but rebounded in 2008, winning the primary, only to be completely consumed by the massive and corrupt political activist machine powered by the cult of personality that was Barack Obama. You could almost call John McCain the slightly less feminine version of Hillary Clinton.
This is not to mention all the completely fawning press coverage that he has enjoyed over the decades since his return from captivity in 1973 (with the notable exception of his run against the hallowed personage of Obama…even the press is not going to cut their throats that deeply for a dirty Republican).
We now know that all of the lies that were told about his captivity were the first chapter in a mythology for the purposes of a long and lucrative political career. We know about how he and John Kerry paired to bury information about POW/MIA personnel to hide their own shameful past in the “prisons” of Indochina.
Allegations have been made by many that the hellish inferno aboard the USS Forrestal in 1967 that caused 134 sailors and airmen to lose their lives…all due to a PRANK by then airmen John McCain!

I was an ABH (that’s an Aviation Boatswain Mate Handler) we pushed and spotted the aircraft on the flight deck for launch and recovery on board the Kitty Hawk, my chief was on the Forestall when the fire occurred. Everything that was written about the Forestall fire in this post is so incorrect its disgusting. Dont get me wrong, I dont like McCain at all. Having meet the ahole while in the navy I can attest to that.
The fire on the Forestall when the flight deck was spotted for airstrikes over North Vietnam. Six F-4s where spotted on the starboard side aft of NO 3 elevator. These Aircraft where prepped for ground attack and where loaded with Zuni Rocket Pods for ground suppression against AA guns to support the A-4s and A-7s that where loaded with Iron Bombs and where spotted on the starboard side aft, A-4 and A-7s where spotted on the port side aft of No 4 elevator.
Navtops safety standards calls for aricraft to be poisitioned in such a way that when parked on the flight deck for launch and packed in such a way that there the tail of the A/C be positioned pointing our over the flight deck edge over the water so that a safe start up can be done. This is all plainly visible in the flight deck video.
A Zuni Rocket pod accidentally launched a rocket when the ordnance man plug a live canon plug into the rocket pod OF A ALREADY HOT CIRCUIT of the F-4 it was attached to without grounding the pod and the Aircraft. This was testified to by the aviation ordnance men who survived the fire. This fact is in the official navy report and can be obtained by going to the library of congress and getting a copy of the 5000 page report.

I’m no McCain fan but he did NOT cause the fire onboard the Forrestal. I was in the Navy 20 years and I was on the Forrestal, not during this incident but later and I knew many shipmates who were on the Forrestal when this actually happened. McCain had nothing to do with starting it. His plane is the one that was hit by the rocket from another plane that fired inadvertantly because of an electrical short. This is well known and all on film, a film I’ve seen a hundred times at least because the Navy used it as a training film on what not to do when fighting fires aboard ship. Stop spreading false stories and f**e news, we have too much of that already.
The “Clinton R.I.F.” of the early 90’s got me. 7 yrs to retire, but it was not to be.
