Charlie Rangel is a crook and a cheat. In 2008 he was charged by the House of Representatives Ethics committee, and found guilty on eleven counts, including not reporting rental income and income tax improprieties. He was removed from the Ways and Means committee as a result, which directs how money is spent by the government. But he has been a loud-mouth and a divisive, partisan hack since his earliest days in the House, but it seems that his style and ethics are to the liking of the Democrat party and his New York constituents, and he is the second longest serving member in the House.
Never short on opinions, he suggests that the financial recovery under Barack Obama has not been strong enough or fast enough (true), but his answer is to expand the meme of “social justice” which generally means more welfare, reparations for slavery, and whole host of other giveaways to his African-American supporters. In the video on the next page Rangel also shows how challenged he is with actual U.S. history, and it is clear that many of his positions are founded on ignorance of the facts.
See page 2 for embarrassing Rangel comments:
Martin May the 2 parties did switch sides, along with geographical strongholds. The dens were once strong throughout the south – when the party was racist. That changed over the first 40 years on the 20th century as an internal battle for the party took place. By 1940, all but a handful of racists were gone from the democrats and they’d gone from being strong in the south to strong in the north.

Im liberal and have no problem with the truth. Yes, the kkk had a strong foothold in the democrat party in the second half of the 1800s and up to at least the 1930s. But there was also an internal conflict in the party because of that block. It took decades to push out but they did manage to do so. As that happened, the dems strongholds moved from the southern states to the north. At the same time, the republican party became more racist and found new support in the south where the dems were no longer popular. You see, its not so much the parties but the geographic locations of their supporters that tell us who was/is racist at any given time. And the south remains far more racist than the north or the coasts at this point. Look at photos of the parties today. One has lots of minorities and women. One does not.
