“I can’t imagine any use for bayonets in an urban setting,” stated Sen. Rand Paul to Senate Homeland Security Committee at a hearing last year.
“I can’t answer what a local police force would use a bayonet for,” Alan Estevez said.

Rand Paul is completely correct, of course, that there is no need for bayonets in local law enforcement. Bayonets are for hand-to-hand combat in battle and the only purpose is to kill.

Bayonets were commonly used in close encounters with the enemy.
Its practicality is questionable today and its even more questionable for law enforement.
this is exactly what happens when you hire EX-MILITARY for cops they revert back to their military training …hence the bayonets
There is NO reason for a police officer to be holding ANYONE at bay at the point of a bayonet, PERIOD. Law Enforcement is NOT at WAR with the American people. It’s the same thing with the 20 ton armored cars that the military is giving out to the cities and towns around America.
