South Carolina State Rep. Alan Clemmons (R) has proposed a measure for a state curriculum that would require students to complete a three-week class on the US Constitution. The course would focus on the Second Amendment using materials endorsed by the NRA and if a companion bill is passed along with it students would also attend shooting ranges.

That’s stupid a constitutional law degree should require that from the get go. I was taught about it in grade school.
They need to study the Constitution and Bill of Rights….. I have looked in my granddaughters social studies books and history, no where are the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence….. written in these books for the kids to read themselves. On top of all that, they are not being taught cursive so many cannot read it anyway. We need a real reform in school to go back to the very rigerous education that was being taught 40 -50 years ago. We actually learned to read, comphrend what we read, challenged what we were told was truth…..could do basic math in our heads and knew our multiplication by or before 3rd grade…. The foundations of who, what, why, where, when ….. are important to teach to our young about the beginnings of government and how it was intended to work for the people and not the people work for them like it is being used today. Kids are smart and they will see through the BS and understand, see through some of the indoctrination and aiming to force socialism and communism with policies and regulations that actually take away our basic freedoms and rights, choices…..
SHOULD be a part of EVERY curriculum.
GOOD!
It’s a sad day when kids know THE KHADASIANS better than the document that outlines their freedom
Nadine Faber’s post should also be required reading by young minds! Pure and simple facts I’ve been saying ever since I heard about Core. We have to blame the govt. for the last 30 years for how they have allowed education to be such a mess as it is today! We have teachers who couldn’t tell you what is in the Constitution or couldn’t spell without Spell check………………for cripes sake!
That is what used to be taught in Civics classes in high school.
They should study and understand how important the constitution is, And what it means to our country.
My 12th grade year it was a required to take civics or government to graduate we spent 3 weeks on just the constitution I graduates 2014
Because it’s not actually the highest law in the land. By using our right to contract, we have stepped out from under the constitution, and fall under a different jurisdiction. By contracts we unknowingly choose to live under merchant law, or in a more common sense, admiralty/maritime law, which is the law of the sea.
