South Carolina State Rep. Alan Clemmons (R) has proposed a measure for a state curriculum that would require students to complete a three-week class on the US Constitution. The course would focus on the Second Amendment using materials endorsed by the NRA and if a companion bill is passed along with it students would also attend shooting ranges.

When any politician is running for office ask him or her a simple question about the Constitution. How many articles? What are the 6 reasons for writing it listed in the preamble? What 5 rights are guaranteed in the first amendment? How many amendments are there? Does it say you the right to trial by jury? Where?
Students at Hillsdale College in Michigan do study the Constitition and you and I can also for free on the internet.
it was required in 6th grade civics and had to pass final exam on govt back in 50s7 60s before moved to middle school or junior high
Should not wait till college —- The Constitution of the United States should be taught from birth — I have several copies on my walls in different rooms!!!!! My kids and grandkids know The Constitution!!!!! It is ‘OUR” REASON for being a citizen of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!
it’s about time we had a government who abided by the Constitution, I think Congress need to reread it
For me and all students to advance to the 9th grade. We in the eighth grade had to test on our Constitution, Bill of Rights and general questions about our governing system and pass that test. You fail the test….be assured you spent the summer break learning and testing before advancing to high school.

The on line course can be taken by anyone but you are right Civics class should cover it.
