South Carolina State Rep. Alan Clemmons (R) has proposed a measure for a state curriculum that would require students to complete a three-week class on the US Constitution. The course would focus on the Second Amendment using materials endorsed by the NRA and if a companion bill is passed along with it students would also attend shooting ranges.

In Texas everyone is required to take U.S. Government to graduate! The Constitution is the core of the class, I thought everyone had to take this course!
ABSOLUTELY
come on S.Carolina … it was your sons during Revolutionary War who led British troops on wild goose chases through the marshes and bayous of the Carolinas to keep the King’s troops from joining the troops gathered against George Washington and the Continental Army — through these chase tactics Washington had time to replenish and stock his troops for the final battle that won that war … “Fighting in the South Carolina backcountry often resembled modern guerilla warfare as Patriot militias and Continental regulars fought Loyalists and British regulars. Over 200 battles and skirmishes were fought in South Carolina during the Revolutionary War. “http://www.crr.sc.gov/exhibits/Pages/revwar.aspx
Well why not???
Its amazing to me that most college grads these days don’t even know what the amendments of the constitution are. Lazy and disgusting!
It part of our history. So what is wrong with that. My question what about the rest of the Admendments. This some thing I had in the fifth grade isn school. No big deal, so what is the problem now?
I dare say, that half of the people in the U.S.A. have never read the Constitution. Most of what they think, comes from some distorted idea of what some one told them it says. When and if they do read it, they will change their minds about much of the garbage that’s going around in this country. Starting with the misguided idea of “seperation of church and state” That is nowhere written in the constitution. Christians and Jews, have every right to put the ten commandments on any public lawn they wish. Teachers can put a bible on their desk, and pray before starting class. The supreme court has not protected, but rather surpressed our right to do so, even tho the constitution guarantees it. Let me quuote the first ammendment, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishiment of religion, OR PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERSCISE THEREOF; OR ABRIDGING THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH,or of the press,or the right of the people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” I took the liberty of useing “caps” for a very important part of this quote.
they dropped history and civics in favor of black history and sex ed.
Absolutely! No highs school student shoud;be be able to graduate unless he can pass a test on the Constitution and the Declaration of in independence. And I would continue that education in college.
It used to be part of our history & civic’s classes bout 50 years ago. Don’t know who started taking it out !!
