As the debate over President Trump’s immigration policy and initiatives grows, so does his apparent determination to see his campaign promises put into action. The left, as expected, is in a fit of self-righteous rage over the efforts being made to curtail illegal immigration and remove illegals from the US, especially those who have committed crimes. However, also as expected, Mr. Trump is not backing down in the face of such resistance to the enforcement of the law, but is doubling-down.
The possibility of federal over-reach is a concern, especially in matters of law enforcement. Most crimes are of a local nature, and as such are the proper responsibility of state and local law enforcement. Injecting federal authorities into local matters is seldom a good idea no matter how it appealing it might be at the time. Hence, those who love liberty should be concerned when they see anything that appears to move towards the federalization of the state and local police.
All of this said, we are in anything but a normal environment. Cities and states are in active rebellion against established federal laws regarding immigration, and are harboring illegals in an effort to thwart their deportation. It’s an outrageous situation, so it comes as little surprise that the solution being implemented is somewhat unconventional. More on page two.
Paul Killian actually, I did read it. However, aside from the mention of a “long standing Govt program” it didn’t give any reference to support this. So unless you can actually show me this “long standing” program that authorizes the President to violate the 10th amendment of the constitution, I’ll let my original argument stand and throw an entire deck of BS cards on this article
Brian….wait until deporting working undocumented people triples your grocery bill. This is 11 million people….the results wii be crippling to our economy.
Try answering the fucking ICE hotline !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So many people spewing ignorance beyond comprehension .
Ahem…. Being in this country illegally IS criminal. We have a legal immigration and naturalization process. I know folks who did it right and are not happy about the dems ignoring federal law.
Here come $4 heads of lettuce…..
Richard Vial, I respectfully disagree! There will be an impact on the agricultural industry. But not as great as some want us to think. Automation has reduced the physical labor required there. Machinery does most the harvest now. Not ALL granted. But there are other people to fill those jobs! Unemployment will go down! Cost savings there! And argue if ya want, but our heathcare system and school systems bear a considerable cost from illegal immigrants! Cost savings! And to end Richard. No one said there wouldn’t be work visas for migrant workers! That has always been there. That’s where the problem stems from! Not going by the law! Not returning! It’s very sad that our government officials let things get to this point. By turning a blind eye to the problem, they let it snowball. Now we have a big problem. Families have been established that will endure much pain and anguish! But I believe that people with a good work, record and no criminal record, and are married and have family, will go on a fast track system to get their citizenship.
Our founding fathers also believed in enforcing laws which the dems have ignored. Don’t blame Trump because liberals want to force the federal government to take action.
I’m with you Paul. And as far as the local police not being able to do anything about any legal that they come across. Wouldn’t it just be easier to let the local police detain an illegal alien until the federal do you come and do something about it. And if that means putting them in a tent in urban electric fenced area so
if being here is the only law they break then whats the big deal they break other laws arrest them
