Catholic Church believes that abortion is an atrocious act, a grave sin and they have certainly excommunicated many for commiting the act.
However, because it is a Holy Year, a year of Jubilee, the Pope wants to show mercy and allow all priests to forgive any woman with a repentant “contrite heart”.
Pope Francis said that women who have had abortions, “bear in their heart the scar of this agonizing and painful decision” and thus mercy is to be shown during Dec. 8 to Nov. 26.

Through the sacrament of Reconciliation, we Catholics go to a priest to confess our sins. Yes, we can ask God to forgive us, and we do. However, there are many reasons for this: 1. Because Jesus gave the apostles the ability to hear confessions and, through the power of God, forgive us our sins.
2. It is an act in humility. Not that we are being humiliated, but as a way to keep a humble heart. We are well aware that we are sinners and the priest is there to work through God, to help us receive absolution for our sins.
The pope does not think he’s God. He has picked up the responsibility of leading the Church, just like the apostles did, after Jesus was crucified.
In this case, he’s explaining to the priests that they do not need approval from their Bishops to absolve the sin of abortion, when it comes to post abortive women, abortionists or abortion clinic workers.
In some cases, when a post abortive woman goes to confession, and confesses the sin, a priest may say, “I will pray for you” instead of “you are forgiven.” It causes a lot of confusion. He’s just clarifying.
However, what I don’t understand, and will be asking my priest, is if a murderer on death row, confesses his sins, he receives absolution. Why would it be different for a person involved with abortion.

Alright. But in the final say of things, when we stand before God, it is he and only he that gives us that forgiveness. Yes he uses the priest as his workers. But in mpo they really ate not the ones that can say you are forgiven. But then u don’t know anything of the catholic religion either. Beech is been awhile since my sinner body has been in church. But at least i know in a sinner.
And just think this Pope and Obama are meeting up the end of this month near the 4th blood moon!. What could go wrong?
If these priests take the okay from the pope, who is a mortal man, over God, a supreme being, they are going to be shocked on judgement day. No mortal man can forgive abortions. This is murder of one of God’s children.
Only Jesus Christ who died on the cross can do that. By the blood of the lamb, are we forgiven !!
You’re right, God is the only one who can forgive. We believe that God uses our priests to help us know that we are forgiven.
We are all sinners. And God has used His priests to help His flock know, love and serve Him. Just my opinion.

He sits in the Vatican as aPipe but he’s a false prophet. He has broken God’s covenant. He’s not to be followed nor obeyed. God, our Lord, is the only one that can forgive any sin.
