Catholic Church believes that abortion is an atrocious act, a grave sin and they have certainly excommunicated many for commiting the act.
However, because it is a Holy Year, a year of Jubilee, the Pope wants to show mercy and allow all priests to forgive any woman with a repentant “contrite heart”.
Pope Francis said that women who have had abortions, “bear in their heart the scar of this agonizing and painful decision” and thus mercy is to be shown during Dec. 8 to Nov. 26.

You hear about only what happens sometimes in the Catholic religion, because there are 90 million Catholics, but it happen every day and in other churches too. I am Catholic by baptism and thought that no matter what time of year, abortion was a mortal and unforgiveable sin. But who am I to judge. I will stick by anyone who asks God to forgive them because we are all sinners including the Pope. Sin is sin is sin is sin—-evil. I’m confused by all these man made laws. God will surely let us know what is right.
