Catholic Church believes that abortion is an atrocious act, a grave sin and they have certainly excommunicated many for commiting the act.
However, because it is a Holy Year, a year of Jubilee, the Pope wants to show mercy and allow all priests to forgive any woman with a repentant “contrite heart”.
Pope Francis said that women who have had abortions, “bear in their heart the scar of this agonizing and painful decision” and thus mercy is to be shown during Dec. 8 to Nov. 26.

Only God can judge and forgive. The taking of life which is a gift from God is a sin and the Pope is wrong on this one.

The priest does not forgive the sin, God does, but Jesus gave the apostles the right to do so in HIs name. That is what has been p$#%&!@*ed down thru the ages by Bishops. As long as the person is sorry for the sin.

Only God can forgive sin. All anyone who has had an abortion has to do is truly repent before God, they don’t need the Pope’s permission or a priest to forgive them! Who’s he kidding?
