If a new poll is to be believed, Donald Trump has earned the support of one of the most coveted voting demographics.
After surveying 931 members of the armed forces, researchers found that out of all the candidates running for president in both parties, Trump was the preferred choice for the majority of them. A solid 27% of the survey’s respondents said he was their favorite candidate, with his closest rival being socialist Democrat Bernie Sanders who came in at 22%.
More specifically, Trump enjoyed high levels of support from the Army and Marines, both of which saw 30% of respondents listing him as their choice. Although he wasn’t the preferred choice of respondents in the Air Force or Navy, he still had significant levels of support, with the branches having 23.58% and 22.35% of their members favoring him respectively.
The numbers are a major boon to Trump, who has been hounded by critics for his relative lack of foreign experience. Earning such impressive levels of support from servicemen will undoubtedly help him mute such attacks.

Although Trump may lack traditional foreign policy credentials, the men and women of the military seem to think that he has a strong grasp on the subject and can be counted on to look out for the country’s best interests. Gaining the support of such an esteemed group alone is a worthy accomplishment for anyone seeking the presidency:
“The data seems to indicate that the GOP national security establishment’s attempt to discredit Trump’s foreign policy credibility has failed — at least as far as servicemembers are concerned.
Trump’s hardline stances on national security issues appear to have attracted dedicated support from members of the military, though several military officials have complained about his aggressive statements on torture and the killing of terrorists’ families, which Trump had to walk back.
Officers surveyed still favor Trump, albeit by a smaller margin than regular enlisted troops. Officers ranked Trump first with 21 percent support and Cruz second with 18 percent.
And even though Sanders has also been perceived as weak on foreign policy, that fact hasn’t hurt his polling numbers among servicemembers.
Despite Sen. Marco Rubio’s attempts to prioritize foreign policy in his platform and despite the Republican national security establishment essentially throwing all of its might behind his campaign, he ranks second to last in the survey.”

Josh Strigle, you really are brainwashed. I’m starting to believe that colleges are pushing this ignorant liberal agenda…
Employers are forced to pay higher wage (30-50% more). That cuts into profit, therefore raise the price of goods to compensate, or close some lications, or lose profit.
All will do it different ways. All of you Bernie followers are looking at a very short-term window of his promises of unicorn Farm and thinking everything will go along just great and everybody will be happy. You have no regard for the people that this will hurt the people that may possibly not be able to afford their bills that they currently have because they will start to lose so much more money to pay for the lazy. Or they will have to get a second job just to be able to stay up on their bills in which they currently pay without a problem. Or maybe we have to start saving less for our retirement in our future because you want more handouts.
It’s very narrow sighted. And unfortunately you’re so high on the kool-aid right now, you can’t see the long term flaws. Or you simply don’t care, because you’re not in a position to lose anything.
Where do you come up with Bernie dismantling nukes? Did he once mention reducing the military? This is America and Europe is laughing at Trump or debating to bar him entering. ISIS and the Taliban would love you to vote Trump. They want to fight us on their turf. We’d beat then by the numbers game, but that’s not the point. Do we need to spend the next 8 years in the Mid East for another war? How many billions of dollars and lives are we committing to in order to fight those zealots? Let those countries be aided with our help like we are doing now. I don’t want to be deployed again unless it’s a humanitarian aid mission. No more 9/11
Joshua Howe no matter how well you explained it, stupid people will never understand.
Joshua Howe The increase in wages does cut into their profits and many product prices would go up a little bit, but not as much as you think. I am also not wrong that many other products would not go up in price because of that free market stuff you Republicans pretend to care about. Competition helps keep prices low on many products because they have to compete. For example, the MSRP for a Honda Civic doesn’t change whether it is in New York City or Norman, Oklahoma. I live in Oregon and we have one of the highest minimum wages in the country and yet somehow we have a decent economy here. We also passed a minimum wage bill that will give us the highest state minimum wage in the country. However, I don’t actually support a $15 federal minimum wage. I think it’s too high. I think companies should take it upon themselves to pay their executives less and their employees more. That or bring back labor unions. Costco pays their employees $40,000 salaries on average and it has led to happier and better quality employees and less turnover.
The increase in “handouts” you speak of are distributed among everybody. Did you know that the number one reason for bankruptcy is health care costs? If we went to a single payer health care system like Bernie Sanders and the largest nurses organization in the country want then people would no longer be going bankrupt due to medical costs. People would also go to doctors sooner while their illness is still cheap and easy to treat instead of waiting until it is too late for the person and expensive. Did you know that more women are being caught with cervical cancer early because of Obamacare? Probably not because you would quickly dismiss that information.
I know full well what I’m talking about on these subjects.
Beer Lee I can see that stupid people understand stupid people quite well. Like most Republicans, he simply doesn’t know what he’s talking about
Ted Schippan None of the candidates served in the military. Bernie should have served in Nam and didn’t.
I know full well that my wife is a nurse, can’t stand sanders, and we lose money for his health care plans (had great insurance prior to obamacare)
I’m all for people being able to be getting care. But, it shouldn’t be the burden of others (such as myself) to pay for them.
And, I’m not a Republican. I voted Democrat in 08, libertarian in 12, and undecided this year.
I vote for the candidate. Not the party.
This cycle just has absolutely horrible choices on Democrat side.
Bernie has as much chance as kasich… his plans will never make it without executive order… and will hurt far more than it helps.
National Nurses United endorse Bernie’s e Sanders.
Health care is a human right. Yes, we should all share the load because it’s a cheaper system overall and at some point in your life, you may need that help too. This country is not about you or me. It’s about us. Our lives are defined by how we treat others. Like I’ve said before, none of Bernie’s plans are radical. You can find all of his beliefs in practice in the countries that consistently rank higher than the United States in lists for the best places to live.

““For me, the compelling question is the psychological state of his supporters. They are unable or unwilling to make a connection between the challenges faced by any president and the knowledge and behavior of Donald Trump. In a democracy, that is disastrous.” – developmental psychologist Howard Gardner, a professor at Harvard Graduate School of Education
