If a new poll is to be believed, Donald Trump has earned the support of one of the most coveted voting demographics.
After surveying 931 members of the armed forces, researchers found that out of all the candidates running for president in both parties, Trump was the preferred choice for the majority of them. A solid 27% of the survey’s respondents said he was their favorite candidate, with his closest rival being socialist Democrat Bernie Sanders who came in at 22%.
More specifically, Trump enjoyed high levels of support from the Army and Marines, both of which saw 30% of respondents listing him as their choice. Although he wasn’t the preferred choice of respondents in the Air Force or Navy, he still had significant levels of support, with the branches having 23.58% and 22.35% of their members favoring him respectively.
The numbers are a major boon to Trump, who has been hounded by critics for his relative lack of foreign experience. Earning such impressive levels of support from servicemen will undoubtedly help him mute such attacks.

Although Trump may lack traditional foreign policy credentials, the men and women of the military seem to think that he has a strong grasp on the subject and can be counted on to look out for the country’s best interests. Gaining the support of such an esteemed group alone is a worthy accomplishment for anyone seeking the presidency:
“The data seems to indicate that the GOP national security establishment’s attempt to discredit Trump’s foreign policy credibility has failed — at least as far as servicemembers are concerned.
Trump’s hardline stances on national security issues appear to have attracted dedicated support from members of the military, though several military officials have complained about his aggressive statements on torture and the killing of terrorists’ families, which Trump had to walk back.
Officers surveyed still favor Trump, albeit by a smaller margin than regular enlisted troops. Officers ranked Trump first with 21 percent support and Cruz second with 18 percent.
And even though Sanders has also been perceived as weak on foreign policy, that fact hasn’t hurt his polling numbers among servicemembers.
Despite Sen. Marco Rubio’s attempts to prioritize foreign policy in his platform and despite the Republican national security establishment essentially throwing all of its might behind his campaign, he ranks second to last in the survey.”

It’s 27# trump 22# Sanders….. And I was in the military and they pressure you to vote republican.
Joshua Howe Bernie Sanders is the second most popular candidate among veterans. All those lazy veterans. Amirite? Then there are the labor unions for physicians, teachers, electricians, etc, scientists, economists, athletes, actors, and musicians that endorse him. Oh and politicians from all around the world.
2nd best among veterans? Lmfao.
2nd to Trump. Those of us still serving prefer trump. Those of us planning on making 20 years don’t want a Democrat who wants to downsize, and force you out just before you make full retirement.
And again… all his support, and STILL CAN’T BEAT A LIAR. Lol.
The sade part is, bernie supporters are against hillary (which I commend them on), but what will they do in the general? Hillary can’t win without the bernie voters, and she offers nothing his people want.
I prefer to support a winner. Not a loser.
Joshua Howe Again, preferring Trump as a serviceman is simply insane. There is no logical reason to prefer Trump over Sanders. Sanders hasn’t insulted the veterans like Trump has. Sanders won’t risk the lives of our military when it isn’t necessary like Trump will. Sanders won’t try to make the military a part of war crimes like Trump will. If you care aboit the military and the country, you’ll vote Sanders. He’s the only one that actually cares about the lives of our servicemen and women
Joshua Howe Bernie is going to win in the west. He’ll win Washington, Oregon, and California. Bernie can still win.
Trump could still lose as well. You should like Hillary – she’s basically a Republican. Her foreign policy would be exactly the same as a Republican’s.
Hillary, like obama, is against our military.
And, with your narrow view, I see why you were a short timer in the military. It’s not for everyone.
And my state voted last week, proudly voted Trump, and he won my state. Sanders lost… which was ironic that his supporters stopped his rally here, yet the state (and even that county) voted trump and hillary.
Sanders supporters and trump supporters aren’t all that different… except bernie supporters want more for nothing, and open borders.
Trump supporters want a sovereign nation and people to earn thier own living.
Neither want an insider/establishment because we are all fed up with the “status-quo”
Josh Strigle ……………..you are so damn smart we can tell because you live in one of the worst states in this country as far as intelligence ……….. for you to sit there and talk to our military personal like that confirms just that. A bunch of socialist, dope smoking idiots thinking they all should make $15 hr working at any job. we all have the right to do what we like because of our military and you really should have learned respect at some point because you are so smart
Am I the only one who finds it odd that the military would support a draft dodger?
Josh Strigle You really need to go back to administrations and have them send you to a history class…………… KKK look up Robert Byrd. FACT 1959 to 2010 one of the longest seated senators was a Grand Dragon in the KKK. the KKK was made up from DEMOCRATS and mostly southern DEMOCRATS. that is your history class for the day and you really should not run your mouth if you know not what OREGON forgot to teach you
