If a new poll is to be believed, Donald Trump has earned the support of one of the most coveted voting demographics.
After surveying 931 members of the armed forces, researchers found that out of all the candidates running for president in both parties, Trump was the preferred choice for the majority of them. A solid 27% of the survey’s respondents said he was their favorite candidate, with his closest rival being socialist Democrat Bernie Sanders who came in at 22%.
More specifically, Trump enjoyed high levels of support from the Army and Marines, both of which saw 30% of respondents listing him as their choice. Although he wasn’t the preferred choice of respondents in the Air Force or Navy, he still had significant levels of support, with the branches having 23.58% and 22.35% of their members favoring him respectively.
The numbers are a major boon to Trump, who has been hounded by critics for his relative lack of foreign experience. Earning such impressive levels of support from servicemen will undoubtedly help him mute such attacks.

Although Trump may lack traditional foreign policy credentials, the men and women of the military seem to think that he has a strong grasp on the subject and can be counted on to look out for the country’s best interests. Gaining the support of such an esteemed group alone is a worthy accomplishment for anyone seeking the presidency:
“The data seems to indicate that the GOP national security establishment’s attempt to discredit Trump’s foreign policy credibility has failed — at least as far as servicemembers are concerned.
Trump’s hardline stances on national security issues appear to have attracted dedicated support from members of the military, though several military officials have complained about his aggressive statements on torture and the killing of terrorists’ families, which Trump had to walk back.
Officers surveyed still favor Trump, albeit by a smaller margin than regular enlisted troops. Officers ranked Trump first with 21 percent support and Cruz second with 18 percent.
And even though Sanders has also been perceived as weak on foreign policy, that fact hasn’t hurt his polling numbers among servicemembers.
Despite Sen. Marco Rubio’s attempts to prioritize foreign policy in his platform and despite the Republican national security establishment essentially throwing all of its might behind his campaign, he ranks second to last in the survey.”

Haha well luckily the military doesn’t appoint a president lol the general population does
When you are in the service you are indoctrinated by your leaders to vote republican. Most military men see themselves as tough guys which is what Trump is trying to personify. The real incredible number here is the 22% for Sanders. That is a remarkable number for a democrat candidate. Trump’s foreign policy knowledge is nothing. He said his top foreign policy adviser is himself because he has a good brain. He said he doesn’t “like people who are captured”. He is no friend to the military but he is a narcissist loud mouthed buffoon who happens to be the republican front runner. He also has this false claim that he is a good businessman because most people don’t know how much he has failed. The Sanders numbers as impressive. Trump, expected. Actually I am surprised he isn’t at 80%. This shows you how weak he is with the military.
This idea that Obama doesn’t care but Bush does is ludicrous. One sent us into an unnecessary war which cost the lives of thousands while at the same time letting the services at Walter Reed Hospital go to hell and the other pulled them out of harms way and refuses to send them back to their deaths Willie-Nillie. Which one cares more? Jesus people, get a clue. The best thing we can do for our military is to pay them, keep them trained and only use them if we absolutely have to.
Trump loves our military.

Our top brass was in fact weeded out by Obama. Do you want ti know how I know? I still have VERY close friends still in the military. Bush didn’t do us any favors but Obama IS BY FAR, the WORST president of my generation. I grew up a military kid in the 80’s and 90’s and I can tell you for a fact that we had it A LOT better than military families have it today. I don’t like Bush, but Obama is a traitor or acommunist plant. He has made us the laughing stock of the world. He cares nothing for our soldiers. He cares nothing for the Constitution or the Bill of Rights. All he cares about is forcing unconstitutional policies down our throats while he wipes his$#%&!@*with the Bill of Rights and flips us off. All he cares about is breaking this country down to the same level as struggling countries everywhere else. NOTHING he has done, has helped our military. NOTHING he has done has been good for this country. He’s set us back 50 years in race relations. He’s forced an unconstitutional health ” care ” system that taxes us just for being alive and forces people to fund things they truly do not believe in unless they go the route of a group that says you have to be part of a church to have that alternative route. Both are unconstitutional. What we have now is damn living nightmare and it’s getting worse the longer we play this wait and see game with this so called ” election ” that mote than likely won’t happen or be the very last one and spark outrage and civil unrest no matter WHO ” wins “. Guess who orchestrated it? That’s right. The Democratic party that has infiltrated the Republican party and gave us jokes like Mitt Romney and John Bohner. RINOs. We haven’t had a Republican in office sense and even he was a Democrat before becoming a Republican. But I can tell you from experience that HE was the best president we have had in 30 years. All the controversy that had to do with HIS administration was more along H.W. Bush’s weaseling in to that administration. Reagan didn’t want Bush as his running mate initially. Called him a socialist, then apparently something forced Reagan to accept him. No doubt, an influence from the shadows. Even then the 80’s were a HELL of a lot better than it is today.
Wow, you’re as good as CNN to misquote him. I know your cushy USAF position gives you right to speak as you please on military issues. But, he never said he would force war crimes.
He wants to go back to what we were as a military prior to, and shortly after 9/11. Primarily before obama.
Obama has weakened us, and our enemies know it. That’s on obama.
What trump said about McCain was out of line. I agree. But what other candidate speaks of boosting our military in numbers and support, to make us what we one were?
I am a combat vet, still serving for many years to come. I’m hopeful we can get back to a POTUS who respects the military and doesn’t replace military leaders who speak honestly rather than be yes men, as Obama prefers
Trump 2016 or nobody
He denounced KKK the very next day. Said needed to research them first. Do you hate before you know about something? Also new chapters are trying to get away from the old KKK ways. They are trying to just keep the constitution . Not saying not rogue chapters but I read up on it.when Trump said things like bring him out on stretcher he said that’s what they would do in old days, not to do it and it gets spun. Mexicans he said some come across that are rapists, drug dealers that is tru. He never said hate them. He said come legally. Myslims he said stop till vet better and ISIS hides among them. It’s true. He’s not a politician won’t speak like one. I am ok with that. I am smart enough to realize what he appears to say and means are not the same. Like the riot part, he said could be never said to riot. And who is doing the riots not his voters. I can argue all day. You like him or you dont, but to spread hate is no better than what you think he’s doing. They people who call him$#%&!@* truly are the facists.
I find it funny (being at the Chicago rally myself) that protestors were holding signs saying trump promotes hate, while they themselves were promoting hate and intolerance and provoking violence.
The irony.
I met muslim veterans supporting trump, legal immigrants supporting his immigration ideas… those who see past the media sound bites are the informed. More and more are turning to trump as they open thier mind, and research beyond the media portrayal.
