Petition to Make Hillary President-elect on Dec. 19th with Electoral College to Hit Goal

Fanatical Hillary supports are attempting to deliver a variation on the election of 2000.  Recall that Bush barely lost the popular vote to Gore.  Recall also that Bush won the electoral college vote, the one that counts, only after a bitter recount battle in Florida, finally stopped by intervention of the US Supreme Court.  Gore supporters were furious, but the law was followed.  Noises were made about trying to get Bush electors to break their obligation and vote for Gore to flip the result, but that didn’t happen.

The 2016 election has one big difference.  Trump won the electoral college vote by a large enough margin that recounts in close states are pointless.  Rest assured that if there was any chance of flipping enough Trump states to Hillary such that she could win the presidency, her lawyers would be all over it.  But they are not.

So we have the spectacle of fanatical Hillary supporters attempting to get individual electors from states that went to Trump to derelict their obligations, in some cases break the law, and vote for Clinton instead of Trump to whom they are pledged.

Anybody can put together a petition.  Here are excerpts from theirs:

On December 19, the Electors of the Electoral College will cast their ballots. If they all vote the way their states voted, Donald Trump will win. However, they can vote for Hillary Clinton if they choose. Even in states where that is not allowed, their vote would still be counted, they would simply pay a small fine – which we can be sure Clinton supporters will be glad to pay!

We are calling on the Electors to ignore their states’ votes and cast their ballots for Secretary Clinton.

Their messages to the electors:  Break the law, violate your obligation, and install the candidate who lost.

Why do these petitioners claim the electors should violate the rules?

Mr. Trump is unfit to serve. His scapegoating of so many Americans, and his impulsivity, bullying, lying, admitted history of sexual assault, and utter lack of experience make him a danger to the Republic.

That’s irrelevant as it just their option, and anyway was settled at the ballot box.

Hillary won the popular vote.

Once again, irrelevant.  That’s not the law — and these people know it.

There is no reason Trump should be President.

There is every reason Trump should be president.  Under the laws of this nation, he is the president-elect.  And no amount of left-wing crying, screaming, protesting, or petitioning can change that fact.

Don’t like the system that elected Trump?  Petition the government to change it for the next election, not for the one just completed.
