The Democrats just never get tired of trying to promote gun control to gun owners and failing miserably. Of course, this is because many of them simply can’t relate to them, as was made painfully apparent this weekend.
Speaking at the NBC/Youtube Democratic debate on Sunday, former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley defended his position on gun control by touting his relationship with gun owners. Attempting to defend his anti-Second Amendment record, O’Malley claimed that he’s, “never met a self-respecting deer hunter that needed an AR-15 to down a deer.”
Setting aside the unlikelihood of his claim that he regularly fraternizes with gun owners and deer hunters, O’Malley’s statement is stupefying. Yes, maybe deer hunters don’t need AR-15’s to shoot deer, but have you considered the possibility that maybe, just maybe, they need them to defend themselves?
To be fair, O’Malley, with his well-trained security escorts, probably doesn’t understand why anybody would need an AR-15 to protect themselves and their family. It should, however, keep him from opening his mouth on topics that he has little understanding of.

I don’t need an AR 15 for deer! I can kill onewith an Arrow. I need one for idiots like the present corrurpt administration who are breaking the law daily. That is what the second amendment is all about O’malley! By the way$#%&!@*you are part of the problem!
It’s called the Bill of Rights, not the Bill of Use,$#%&!@*
I’ll keep my own counsel as to what kind of gun I need, and O’Malley can go fly a kite.
Hey$#%&!@* my 30-30, 30-06 and 270 are deer rifles. The two AR-15’s and crate full of 40 round magazines are for thugs and defending against an over reaching out of control government, exactly as intended by Second Amendment to the Constitution.
but, mister the deer in TEXAS are wearing bulletproof vests?
smoke screen….keep you fire arms
Have you read the Constitution Mr. O’Malley? I think a refresher course might be in order. The 2nd Amendment does not exist for hunting. It is in case those that represent us forget who works for who. OK, now go sit in time out for making a retarded statement.
O’Malley’s views didn’t get him very far in that election debate. As for controlling guns, his state (Maryland) has one of the highest gun murder rates in the nation (FBI stat). Seems to me he should focus on education, daycare, and finding work for the underclass responsible for much of the crime in his state. O’Malley is amusing when you consider that with few exceptions, states with the highest gun ownership rates in the nation tend to have the lowest gun murder rates (FBI stat).
For deer hunting use an ar 10, problem solved…
This all comes down to legal ownership of a weapon of choice. A comparison might be Mr O’ Malley’s choice to drive a Cadillac, or super sports car or some other comparative luxury vehicle. Won’t a plain old Ford or basic Chevy car or pickup achieve the same purpose? Oh, but it is your choice to drive what you want as long as it is a legal choice. So if we don’t like luxury cars, can we lobby to stop you from driving them? They use more fuel, cost more to produce, and hurt other peoples self esteem by being reminded of what they can’t afford. So maybe our politicians should be riding the bus!!
