The Democrats just never get tired of trying to promote gun control to gun owners and failing miserably. Of course, this is because many of them simply can’t relate to them, as was made painfully apparent this weekend.
Speaking at the NBC/Youtube Democratic debate on Sunday, former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley defended his position on gun control by touting his relationship with gun owners. Attempting to defend his anti-Second Amendment record, O’Malley claimed that he’s, “never met a self-respecting deer hunter that needed an AR-15 to down a deer.”
Setting aside the unlikelihood of his claim that he regularly fraternizes with gun owners and deer hunters, O’Malley’s statement is stupefying. Yes, maybe deer hunters don’t need AR-15’s to shoot deer, but have you considered the possibility that maybe, just maybe, they need them to defend themselves?
To be fair, O’Malley, with his well-trained security escorts, probably doesn’t understand why anybody would need an AR-15 to protect themselves and their family. It should, however, keep him from opening his mouth on topics that he has little understanding of.

Barry Reed Morder I’m not saying that a .223, 22-250,243 or what ever other smaller caliber won’t kill a deer. They will, they just aren’t as effective at it as bigger calibers. Never said they aren’t effective. What I said is that they are borderline of being to small to be consistently effective. As far as doing more damage to the deer, of course the bigger caliber will, that’s the point, the bigger calibers are more effective at killing a deer, hence more damage. If you’re only concern is doing as little damage as possible yet still being able to kill the deer why don’t you use fmj rounds instead of hollow points. Make a perfect shot and they will kill a deer. No, you went with the hollow points because they do more damage which gives you a larger margin of error. A lot of people use a 270 for the same reason, it does less damage than a 30 06 or 300. It all depends on where you draw that line and how big of a window you want. I prefer a .30 cal and I draw the line of too small somewhere around .243.
It’s written….. The rt to bare arms!!!!!! Not this type or that type!!!!! And it is written no where in the constitution… Only for deer hunting!
On the rise, home invasions, perpetrators, gangs especially illegal alien gangs like MS13 that Obama has graciously invited in, irony, if you defend yourself you might go to prison! A well respected sheriff told me to buy a no trespassing sign and put them up in my Windows and property and if anyone comes on my property or house to light them up and because of that no trespassing sign that it was pre meditated and the judges hands are tied! Get those no trespassing signs and plenty of ammo friends!
I’ve never met an leftist elitist politican that needed to be president of the United States of America.
There are no self-respecting gun control politicians.
Is it so much to ask that we get elected officials that actually uphold their oath the constitution? Honestly? The real enemy of the people are our elected representatives who consistently and arbitrarily deem this amendment and that amendment not relevant in a 21st century America. Shame on them. But I suppose we have only ourselves to blame. They were elected and subsequently re-elected over and over again. I just hope that this election, the people of the United States understand what’s at risk. The identity of what it is to be an American is already tarnished with a whole generation of people who just walk with a hand out and say “it’s not fair” or “why do you make so much money and I don’t”. Well life isn’t fair and people work hard. But I digress. The second amendment isn’t for hunting unlike the terribly misinformed Mr. O’Malley seems to believe. It’s for self-defense and the preservation of Liberty. My question to people who vehemently oppose the right to bear arms is what happens when you get your way? What happens when after all the guns are gone and people start questioning more, will you support a moratorium or even an outright ban of your first amendment? And for the people who oppose that, will you support a repeal or reinterpretation of your fourth amendment? Or how about the 8th? Maybe cruel and unusual punishment is warranted for such dissidence. Well why we’re at it lets get rid of the sixth! Who needs representation in a court room anyway? The point here is, rights are tights for a reason. Rights aren’t arbitrarily taken away because you get scared. Become a critical thinker and understand what you may be asking for Mr. O’Malley, is a slippery slope. Quite a slippery slope indeed.
Never heard a politician who knew when to be quite.
I need my AR15 for the coming civil war. There. I said it.
Well this$#%&!@*is as ignorant as they come. I shot three deer this year with my mini 14. One shot, dropped like lightning hit em. The 223 damaged little meat, and a well placed neck shot is incredibly humane.
In my understanding an AR15 is in .223/5.56 an AR 10 is 7.62/.308 and I’ve never seen a .300 but I thought that the numbers changed I did know that you can get AR rifles in different calibers though, but you do see the point I was making in the post right?
