Even at the end of his second term, Barack Obama is finding ways to blame others for his failures.
At the beginning of his presidency, everything was George W. Bush’s fault. After several years — and long after the Bush-blaming had outstayed its welcome — Obama finally found a new scapegoat. Suddenly, all of the administration’s shortcomings had to do with a racist electorate.
At one point Obama even claimed that racism holds all black people back, including his own family. It was an absurd argument from a man who was elected twice to be President of the United States.
But the absurdity of the argument hasn’t stopped Obama from making it again and again through his tenure as president. And he hasn’t stopped now that he’s serving his final months in the oval office.

At first, Obama’s instinct was to stand by the regimes he had appeased. He then flip-flopped and sided with the Muslim Brotherhood, which went on to win Egypt’s 2012 elections. When the Brotherhood’s illiberal rule provoked the biggest mass protests in human history, the Obama administration urged Egyptians not to rise up against their government; they ignored him. His Sunni outreach in tatters, Obama turned to the Shia regime of Iran. Meanwhile, the rise of the Islamic State underlined the complete failure of the the president’s Middle East policy. On the home front, Obama’s attempts to appease the Muslim world coincided with an increase in radical Islamic terror attacks. Far from decreasing the radicals’ appetite for violence, Obama’s strategy arguably lowered America’s defenses. On his first day in office, for example, Obama signed an executive order directing that the prison at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, be closed down within a year. Congress refused to appropriate funds for the transfer, since few Americans wanted the world’s most dangerous terrorists on our home soil. So the Obama administration sped up releases from the facility. Freed prisoners often returned to field of battle. And instead of bringing new terrorists to the prison, the administration either brought them to trial in the civilian court system, in which the government could not interrogate them for very long after their initial arrest, or simply killed them in the field.
The only one who has a problem with the color of your skin is you. What we do care about is how you use it to try a divided us. You did not stand up for Americans. It not about color. Americans come in all colors. So enough just move on. And let us get on with a better future.
