Barack Obama is once again circumventing the legislative process in order to push his administration’s unpopular leftist agenda. First, it was illegal immigration, then transgender bathrooms. This time, it’s guns.
Earlier this year, the White House announced new policies for those receiving social security benefits in conjunction with the president’s January 5th executive order on gun ownership. When it was released, few seemed to notice that the order allowed the administration to withhold Second Amendment rights from those who collect social security.
The move makes little logical sense. Social Security beneficiaries have never proven themselves as particularly violent or incapable of gun ownership. Instead, it seems as if this is part of Obama’s larger plan to slowly and surreptitiously restrict gun ownership whenever and wherever possible.
The administration was likely hoping that this slow creep of new regulations would go unnoticed until it was too late to be repealed. Fortunately, the watchful eyes of conservative media caught them in the act.

A restriction of our constitutional tights by Obama and Hillary will be much worse!
It doesn’t sound like anyone read beyond the attention grabbing and misleading headline and actually read the executive order language. It doesn’t do any such thing. It just allows the SSA to report into the existing federal firearms background check system if someone is getting SSDI or SSI because they are crazy or adjudicated as mentally incompetent and are otherwise legally prohibited from buying a gun. It does not withhold any SS payments or infringe upon their second amendment rights if they are already legally prevented from buying or owning a firearm. It even provides for legal redress if someone feels that their mental condition shouldn’t prevent them from buying a gun. If it were to be challenged on constitutional grounds it wouldn’t be a 2nd amendment violation. If it were I’m sure the NRA & GOP would have already challenged it in court. I think the concern would more be some sort of violation of a right to medical privacy, however, is that right forfeited by virtue of applying for benefits based on the mental disability. Maybe this same reporting requirement should be expanded to entitlement programs like welfare also.
Mindy Utz , how on earth can they afford to buy a gun I they are on welfare?
You people are stupid!
