The IRS is now seizing perfectly legal bank accounts and simply keeping the money, no crime ever charged.
They are doing this under a practice called civil asset forfeiture, which permits IRS agents to seize property they only suspect of being tied to some crime. No charges need ever be filed and the IRS is allowed to keep a share of whatever is taken.

My girl and I both had accounts at one time,wasn’t the IRS.It was the bank.closed our accounts and they kept the money,saying it wasn’t an active account because we hadn’t drawn money OUT in a 6month period.I said what do you mean not active,I just put money in two months ago,I made a deposit,that is activity.they claimed it didn’t count and that we needed to make a withdrawal are transfer for it to be considered an active account.didn’t know what to do.and everyone we tried contacting said it’s our own fault because policies can change.thought they would have somehow notified people.
