Jay Familglietti, NASA’s top water scientist, recently warned that California has only a year’s supply of water left in storage facilities and the backup groundwater is rapidly depleting. Despite this harrowing fact, California has no backup plan to address this crisis.
“California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain,” stated Familglietti. “In short, we have no paddle to navigate this crisis.”
UPDATE: California Gov. Jerry Brown issues ineffectual, mandatory water restriction as one-third of our nation’s crops are threatened. See Page 3 for updates.

When you worry about fish more than people this is what you get. I thought people in CA were supposed to be environmentally smart and took care of THEIR resources? I know they are going to by dehydrated water from China and ship it in by the boat load. Oh, wait, there is a dock worker’s strike. Never mind.
THAT is a WOW picture for sure.
I totally agree Jim, but “Their resources”? They get a large percentage from the Colorado river, as do 4 other states. The other day I saw a do$#%&!@*entary on how their Almonds are at stake now, because it takes 1 gallon of water to grow one almond, using a full 10% of the water supply…I’m more worried about the people AND the fish than a govt. that’s completely “nuts”. Wait ’till Colorado turns off the faucet.
We ran into trouble here in GA as we have no rivers running into GA, but ours run into FL and thus we must give them our water, by court decree. Messed up thinking to me. Someone in FL needs to get onto desalination in a hurry. CA as well.
Guess 38 million residents have to start drinking salt water ..:)
Haha the state must have raised the rain tax too!!! Sucks to be yall
LOL. Brilliant.
Still believe in liberals?
REgulated themselves right out of water.
If they quit feeding the rest of us, chase Nestle bottled water folks out and switch to wind energy they will be alright.
